No, they're really not.

You own a pie shop. You bake a ****** pie. I tell people you bake a ****** pie. You don't care that I tell people or what they think of your pie. But it doesn't matter if you care or not because other people know now about your ****** pie and that informs their decisions. You can care absolutely zero about what someone says about you, but that can still impact you and others. This isn't hard.

Why did we have to leave at all?

IMO, After 9/11 that country should have been ours to do with what we wanted from the time we stepped foot into it till the end of time.

After all we still have Military bases in Japan, Germany and Italy going on 80 years. We have Military stationed in Saudia Arabia/Kuwait for 30 years now. I'm sure I'm missing a country or a dozen as well.

C-17s are busy today. There's a Hungarian AF C-17 over Turkmenistan headed NE probably from Kabul, and a Qatari AF C-17 over Iran out of Kabul. Flying over Iran sure cuts off a big corner. The Navy C-130 tripping back and forth from Qatar to Kabul probably wishes they could cut the corner and save a day of flying time on each trip - got to be agonizingly slow for those crews.
