Talk about in dream land...

Seriously? Can one not look at practice and see he's quick when he gets in the open?

Don't read too far into posts. You'll give yourself an ulcer.

Sure, practice is fine for a barometer. Again, I've watched nearly every video I can find of UT practices thus far and I see a kid with tons of upside, but he's not coming away from these practices looking like Herschel Walker by any means. I've got sobering news for you; just because he looks like a million bucks against UT's defense in practice (which he hasn't) means absolutely NOTHING a against the Bama's, Florida's, Georgia's, Oklahoma's, etc of the world.

Slow your roll and let the kid develop.

If he doesn't perform, if he doesn't dominate like we expect, how does that help UT football? It doesn't.

If he doesn't, I'm guessing it's because Lane is having a helluva good season. Hurd's time is coming, heck, maybe it will be this year. I just don't think he's better than Lane with all the video I've seen. But as you all know, UT will likely need two good RB's in the SEC. But for me, Lane is the proven guy. Hurd in time.

I think Lane is going to be great this year 1400 yards and I think Hurd will be close to a grand as well.

Did you see anywhere that I stated he was going to be a Heisman winner in his Freshman year? I made the comparison that Hurd appears to be the better runner in the open than Lane. And Lane is a bruiser that gets yards by plowing over the defense. Both of which are true statements.

Slow your own roll there buddy. And stop attempting to insinuate I said he's the next great RB.

My argument in this was that Hurd was faster than jones. I didn't say he was the next Hershel or Bo. It's laughable to me that these gator fans think they are the same speed.

Just went to Florida chat rooms and most are predicting 10-2 or better regular season. Oh, and ticket is already punched to be one of the four playoff teams. And I thought we were getting a little loopy with some of our predictions on UTs season. Wow.

I thought dream land was referring to the area of cleavage in your avi... my bad

Seriously? I don't see anything close to this. But that doesn't mean UT will have a bad running game.

Your scenario would mean Lane would have one of the best seaons ever by a UT back with an entirely new line.

Maybe not 1400 but 1300. I think our line will be better then last year, especially run blocking.

UT ran the ball incredibly well last season considering there was a very, very small threat of a passing game. I think UT averaged 188 YPG yards rushing last season.

That's exciting that they were that good last year and will surpass that this year. MO

Typo. UT AVERAGED 188 yards last season. :hi:

I would be thrilled if UT hit 200 YPG rushing with 250-275 passing. That is ball control and TOP control.

Matt Jones is 6'2" 235 lbs and runs a 4.4 40. He was sick during fall practice last year and than injured his knee and was gone for the season. He was one of the starters lost for the season.

This was in 2013...

Facts...

Florida Gators 2013 Positional Preview: Running back, where "Who?" is Matt Jones - Alligator Army

"Will Muschamp said Matt Jones weighed 230 and ran a 4.4 40-yard dash at Florida's team "combine"

Here are some facts regarding Hurd:

Jalen Hurd - 40 yard dash - 4.37 - Southern Elite Combine - eastpreps
www.eastpreps.com/.../jalen-hurd-40-yard-dash-437-southern-elite-combin...

Mar 30, 2013 - Jalen Hurd clocked a 4.37 in the 40 yard dash at the Southern Elite Combine in Oxford, Mississippi on July 14, 2012.

By the time Hurd’s junior season rolled around last fall, the buzz had become a roar. He had become a 6-foot-3, 222-pound physical freak with 4.37 speed in the 40.

Jalen Hurd - No. 5 candidate for Mr. Football USA

I did a google search to try to confirm Muschamp's comments regarding Matt Jones, no such luck, but even if the coach isn't exaggerating (which most always do at their own combines) he's still not as fast as Hurd, it's close, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

I think florida will bounce back and have a good year...

But we will win the game against them this season.

I know the fans are so used to losing that game that most have written it off...

but luckily, we have a wicked class of winners that just got here that have never lost to florida, have never had to learn to lose from Dooley.

Sounds like some crazy **** to me. I bet your one of those gators that predicts 10-2 or better, lol. In fact you could have been one of the many that said 14-1 with a playoff birth from the sounds of your post.

Why does saying a really goodd player would have playing time at UT mean he is picking them to go 10-2

No way in hell they beat us at Neyland this year

Yeah, cause Florida really has a tough time coming into Neyland and beating UT....they're 8-2 the last 10 games in Knoxville and UT needed Florida to miss a fg in OT in 1998 and a late 50 yd James Wilhoit fg to win in 2004 or it would be 10-0.

Look for Muschamp to burst into flames this year once we take the lead early in the game...Crowd switches from Lil Wayne to the "The Roof".. We don't need some water let the .... Burn.. Mother... Burn

I'm not going to get into the running back debate and will address what was originally posed.

I think the rbs and wr's will be fine for Florida. The question is the offensive line and Driskel. Then beyond the quality of play, the question is can both units stay healthy.

This debate is pointless.. long time before we play florida, neither team will even be the same team that they are today.

I hope Muschump has a decent year, because I would like nothing more then for Florida to keep him. They have the money to get someone spectacular. But I would rather them turn into UGA. Do just well enough that they can't justify firing the coach. Be a good game that helps our SoS. But never really be a danger of going all the way.

UT has some great years coming where we demolish Florida and Bama, and repay all of the beatdowns while we were fielding the worst teams we have in history. And all of their fans that get all happy about it like they are accomplishing something.

I want them to be fielding good teams when we destroy them. NOT be down like we were so the victories mean nothing.

As your QB play goes.....so goes your WR play!!!!!
