I disagree with this...what demographics do you speak of? Are you Nostrodamus or something?
I like Butch, but I doubt we will compete for National Championships anytime in this generation. The demographics of our region just don't put us in a good position to be contenders any time soon. This year: 6-6, bowl loss. Next year: 7-5, bowl win. Year after, 8-4, bowl. Year after, 7-5, bowl, etc. Just get used to it.

Keepin in mind a coach has seconds to run a mind analysis on the situation, it's easy to hindsight 20/20 when you have minutes to mull it over. ESPN has made a good living doing the latter, the prior is why they make the big bucks and what separates the top ten coaches from the ham n eggers.

Demographically we don't have nearly enough in-state talent to draw from. We can't recruit nationally like we could in the 90s because other teams in the SEC are now doing the same thing. We used to have a pretty good monopoly on that type of recruiting. Now it's a lot more competitive. LSU has locked down Louisiana, a state we used to recruit like crazy. Texas is definitely out. California is being raided by Oregon, USC, UCLA, and now even Stanford. We still get some guys from Florida, but not enough to make up for the difference. This is an unfortunate fact.
Kentucky is number one in recruiting on Rivals, which tells you all you need to know. It's meaningless at this point. We will have a top 15 recruiting class, and in 3-5 years, we may be a consistent top 15 team, but National Championships are a thing of the past I'm afraid.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This. Robert Plant speaketh. :dance2:And most people don't watch enough football, or they don't pay attention if they do. There are no perfect coaches. Mistakes will be made. Hopefully, talent, development, coaching the other 95% of the game, depth, and effort makes up for the mistakes made. Those are the teams that win. If you can't do the other things and make mistakes, you get Dooley.

UT's recruiting disadvantage is slowly becoming a non-issue as Middle Tennessee increases in population. In 10 years, we'll be able to fill up half the class with kids from Davidson/Rutherford/Williamson counties alone.
That guy needs a good number 6.
