Talked to a Cincy fan about Butch

It ain't the end of the world, you know? He lost 4 or 5 games he shouldn't have. Big deal.
what do you mean by this? never said it was the end of the world. I was a Dooley fan, read my post from last year and the year before. The team never clicked under him, he was not ready to lead a SEC team yet. maybe later he will be, but not yet.

I am just saying that he didn't set us back a great deal, so I'm not upset. I think that we have a better coach now, but I could be wrong. It was going to be a tough 5 years regardless of who the coach was.

I agree with you, but the team should have shown some improvement ..the offense did but the defense did not so it is what it is, also I never said he set us back..other posters did in another thread. I just said he was paid to win.

I like that he has the balls to make decisions like that....even if they don't always work. I want to win, but I want to see exciting Tennessee football too. I want to see successful reverses, blocked punts and field goals, trick plays, and ballsy calls that will get the fans excited..

:ermm: ....... nah I just want to win. That's excitement enough for me.

The defense did not, because all the coaches left, and we didn't have the personnel or the understanding to run the new scheme. The thing that baffles me is that Fulmer and Dooley made the same stupid mistake in hiring a coordinator who brought in a completely different system.

When your time is short, it might be better to be a little conservative, and not completely overhaul your entire offensive or defensive schemes. It is like a golf pro completely changing his swing right before the 3rd round of the U.S. Open. Stupid!

I liked this post my self, because this is the reason he was fired. why change to a 3-4 when you are already on the hot seat, the defense would of helped but he had to change and hire a guy that never would have been a DC in the first place..imo

It is exactly the same thing that happened to Fulmer in his last season of 08, when he had to replace Cutcliffe, Luke, and Roper. What does he do? He changes the whole system. Of course Fulmer may have thought that he had more time, but he should have known that he was one disastrous season away from the unemployment line, and that the only way that he could screw up is to take a big gamble.

Dooley and Fulmer sure swung for the fences with a 3-2 count in the bottom of the 9th, and struck out. All they needed were a couple of singles, and they would still be playing. There is your baseball analogy for those of you who don't like golf.
