Tankers Attacked In Gulf: Price of Oil Up

So what do we think will be done? Seems like there will be some form of retaliation for the drone. But it will be one with no or very low chance of casualties.

Whatever it is my guess is it happens Sunday. Trump wants everyone talking about him on Monday on TV.
Between the ICE raids next week and likely retaliation against Iran, gonna be a busy news week post-Trump reelection announcement.

Between the White House leaks and DoD no one is really loyal to Trump.

They basically feel like no one knows what they are doing. It doesn’t look good when a ship is ordered to general quarters 1 hour before the launch and them 5 minutes out they abort.

Any military personnel leaking information is violating their enlistment oath. Loyalty is given to the office of the President. That doesn't change by who holds the office. Any civilian leaking information from the DoD is endangering national security. I don't hold other cabinet departments to the same standard as I do the DoD, but it's called "defense" for a reason. Loyalty to Trump has nothing to do with it. Be loyal to your country.

Faith, allegiance, and obeying orders. Leaking confidential information goes against all of that. Loose lips sink ships.
And though I've not read the UCMJ, I'd say it goes against that, too.

It’s most likely going out of Directorate for Intelligence, J-2. Meaning it’s a ton of officers who are untouchable and if pressed will walk up to the hill, claim Whistle blower status and spill all the beans. They will also say that the president declassified the information the moment he tweeted about it. Which is why he shouldn’t be on Twitter.

Defense official: “Collateral damage assessments or battle damage assessments are one of the first things that happen in these planning meetings when coming up with options for the president. Senior leaders here are confused by the president’s tweets because they were there when he was told about casualties — more than 10 minutes out. He didn’t have to ask the general how many people would die. He had already been told.”

CDA’s or collateral damage assessments are done 24-48 hours out. It would have been one of the first things he would read in the CONOP,

Not to mention details of the operation are most likely classified thus leaking discloses classified information.

Sure. But not if he just stages these situations to boost his ego. There is definitely an element of that here. There may be more to it, but it was a factor, clearly.

How to lead with a pack of dogs biting your ankles, difficult. He is communicating with the Muslim Iranian hardline leadership. This is not an accident he discussed the operation with the press. Just a move. He has set up his next move very well by showing both violence and tolerance. You really think the military came up with a plan to kill 150 people in retaliation for a drone shoot? Lets wait until the game is over instead of criticizing after every move. How do you watch a football game, oh we lost, wait we won, no we lost, now we are wining, uh oh lost again?

Really? You are going with "he's thinking several moves ahead and this was all planned out?" Seriously?

Like I say, he did the right thing backing down on this. But it was mishandled.

No matter what he does you would think it was mishandled and you are always looking for the negative. I just look at what we know from previous encounters, he does not telegraph his blows or discuss details with the press, he is not afraid to hit a target even if Russia is involved. This is his history. Now he suddenly starts talking with the press? His actions showed he is willing to use force and has tolerance at the same time. You might be right and its indecision, we will see soon enough. In any case, I'm am glad it's not Hillary/Obama making these decisions.

I know the Saudis supply huge oil. I am not sure oil is that big of a deal for Iran. Or others. Last i saw for UAE (Dubai) they used to put out 400k barrels a day in 91...now its 30k a day. 2% of GDP.... oil isnt the only driver of economies in the ME...and everything isnt about oil...for us or them. We dont even need their oil these days..we just need them to sell it in US dollars to others. Not sure what the end game is there, but i cant see where our dollars have to be tied to petrol forever. Our economy, markets, and products as far as tech cars planes intellectual property etc has an inherent value regardless of oil. I phones are worth nearly as much as gold by weight these days...half kidding
