Team News (current roster)

I mean i know Tony.. He really does love this community and UT. I also can see why people disagree. To each his own, but talking to him as many times as i have, he definitely is all Vol.
I agree, he is definitely all-Vol. He is also all-Tony, too, and extremely self-absorbed/self-important.

I like that he isn't afraid to challenge the establishment, but if you make his list, you're done in his mind and he'll rarely walk that back. Barnes doesn't do his show like Tyndall and Vitello, and Basilio chose to make him a target because of it. The believed struggle in recruiting became the object of his ire, and once that improved, then it became about postseason struggles. If that improves, it will become about something else.

I've met Tony a couple times; nice guy and huge Vol fan. But, he has an ego the size of the Sunsphere and he has real trouble hiding it.

Barnes mentioned Chandler’s injury was a shot he took to his teeth/mouth, so thankfully not something that lingers. Saw a video interview of his from media day yesterday and he appeared fine, hopefully we get to see him Saturday.

Was troubling that Barnes said that Aidoo’s not been practicing for 3 weeks because of illness. Not that I expected us to rely on him heavily (especially early), but development is huge for him so i hope he doesn’t fall too far behind. Might be a redshirt season for him though, certainly not the start you wanted. Barnes was very complimentary of his rim protection though.

A little late but I really like Schwartz’s Royal Ivey comparison for Mashack

I think he said somebody has mononucleosis but I didn’t catch the player’s name.

VQ said UT didn’t win by single digits and score wasn’t wiped clean at half, which I believe were a couple of things TB reported…maybe that’s what TS was referring to, idk.
I thought TB said they won by double digits. I also don’t know what the big deal is about wiping the scoreboard at half

Tony didn't report that UT won by single-digits. He said double digits. He did say they wiped the slate clean at half.

Seems like a personal spat. Arguing the details of a scrimmage against Davidson seems completely unimportant or am I missing something?
That's exactly what it is, and there is apparently some history between the two.

However, it did seem ridiculous of the Associate AD for Communications to sarcastically seek out a confrontation from someone he knew would bark back. Not very professional of him, especially when the majority of what Tony posted turned out to be true. Not only does Satkowiak seem vindictive, now, he also seems like a liar. "Choose your battles" seems like an appropriate mantra for someone in his position.

He's a control freak. I think I recall him doing something similar to Trey Wallace a few years ago.

To be fair, his job is kind of to be a control freak. He’s told to control the narrative. I would guess there are certain things Barnes wants controlled, too, even though Barnes is brutally honest.

But it’s obvious there is history there, and I’m sure he’s just defending Barnes and the program.

What was there to defend Barnes and the program against, though? It wasn't like Tony attacked either in this instance, though he's certainly prone to take cheap shots on them in other instances.

It’s no one’s business who is injured/sick besides Barnes and Co. that’s the issue. If TB didn’t include the injury report, then I’d almost guarantee there would be no issue.

Just needs to learn to keep his mouth shut on certain things then he wouldn’t catch so much ****.

Why is it no one’s business to know that stuff? The media has made it a billion dollar business reporting on that exact kind of information. Heck, the NFL requires teams to accurately report injuries, daily. Pretty naive to cling to the idea that it’s no one’s business, or that no one is going to report on it, even if you don’t like it.

It’s also worth noting that Satkowiak never once commented on the injury mentions as the lone item he took exception with, and Rick Barnes, himself, openly spoke on and corroborated every word of it, just yesterday.

What team wants other teams knowing your injuries with the season coming up? Lol what

Second of all, we are talking about college, not the pros, it’s way different. You said it yourself, they are REQUIRED to report those, in college you aren’t, which is why most don’t say anything about them. AGAIN, you don’t want your competition knowing.

Of course Tom isn’t going to sit there specifically name a reason when it’s pretty obvious.

You think he cares who starts a scrimmage? You think he cares who scored the most points in a scrimmage, nope.

Funny how Barnes speaks on it after being released by TB.

Bingo...I would guess that some of the info may not have been entirely true and that the history created the response. It doesn't really bother me one way or the other, and it certainly didn't mean that someone should be called a derogatory term.

So, I’m to believe that those three injuries/sickness were such closely-guarded proprietary information despite the fact that neither Fulk or Chandler would miss any regular season time and that our 10th or 11th player down the bench is sick? And we’re protecting that info from the giant-slayers over at Lenoir-Rhyne? Get real.

And if that really is the issue with Basilio’s report, then just say so and don’t mark yourself as a liar by claiming multiple inaccuracies when it was actually darn near 100% true. And Barnes doesn’t have to confirm it. He can simply say, “We’re not going to discuss player health.” End of story. Furthermore, get your own house in order since the leak of information is coming from somewhere inside. Don’t blame Basilio for doing his job. That’s ridiculous.

Well, let's get wrapped around the axle about a practice scrimmage.

Regarding the TB vs Sadowski tit-for-tat, I found it amusing. If anyone cares to remember, TB was pounding the Rick Barnes Golden Parachute narrative for the first 3 years he was here. Doesn't recruit, cashing in on UT's bankroll, etc... I read his blog - it's entertaining and sometimes informative, but you don't know where his info is coming from, so take it FWIW.

Somebody made the statement that UT BB doesn't do interviews with TB. That's true and that may be where the friction between TB and Sadowski lies. CBR probably refuses to meet with TB and did not forget about the golden parachute crap that TB was insistent about. CRB (through Sadowski) probably told TB to pound sand.

Something else to keep in mind, TB is a "fan" run media site. If I were a UT Coach, I would be cautious on interviewing on that type of media. CRB actually does very few interviews, and the one's he does he either has a vested interest in or is through professional media outlets. Regarding fan run sites, it's not so much of a lack of credibility but the lack of accountability. There is no one to ensure that stuff that gets asked, said, reported, implied is not twisted around a narrative to support one fan's view. I'd rather not trust my reputation to a fan with an axe to grind...

Just my take.
