Team News (current roster)

6 years. $4.455 in year 1 with annual raises of $250k and $100k starting in 2024. $5.665 in year 6 (2025-26). Despite all of the outrage when CRB’s new deal began (5th highest salary in 2021) he will slide down the highest paid list as the years pass (assuming the deal isn’t redone). His timing was pretty lucky by getting it done before COVID and N-I-L.
How do you suppose NIL will affect coach salaries?

Both with JJJ at the 4 is our best lineup right now.

I don’t see it. Vescovi (and his lack of defensive ability) and another shooting guard on the court at the same time. Then we have a 6’6” small forward and a 6’8” center. Don’t like that at all defensively and especially not for rebounds.

So KC, Vescovi, Powell, JJJ, Fulk? That’s a strong lineup, but it being our best is probably matchup dependent.
All lineups are match-up dependent but very few teams these days have good enough bigs to make small ball teams adjust to them. It's more likely the other way around.

Well one of you 2 is a HOF coach making $6m, I doubt he’s doing what he feels is stupid…a huge part of this program is culture and just handing over a starting spot because a kid is more talented while potentially not having the work ethic/commitment/attitude of the guy he’s replacing is a pretty dangerous move to make.
HOF coach? That’s a Little presumptuous don’t you think? Probably depends on what he does in the tournament the rest of his career. So far he only has the record for the most 1st round losses (12) in the tourney. Needs to show he can coach in March to become a HOF coach

He's in the hall already. They just haven't gone through the formality of taking the vote yet.

Only? 20th most wins of all coaches in the history of the thousands that have coached in the NCAA so far is cancelled? Took Providence and Clemson to 6 NCAATs in 10 years? 24 wins in the single elimination NCAAT? I’ll take this bet.

You continue to outdo yourself and that's saying something...lol

I have one, if you care, that 3rd year under Barnes maturation is happening right before our eyes, imo. Only thing that bothers me is that I still want more BHH.
With Nkahmoua playing like that and Fulk back BHH is going to really have to bring it and earn every minute he gets. 0-4 fg today and 1 or 2 of those were bunnies, he rebounded well and seemed solid defensively, he’s gonna be a frustrating guy I feel like…might give you 18 one night and then nowhere to be found the next.

Isn't a big deal to lose to UCLA by 2, especially this early in the season. Villanova will be ready for us and will be a very tough win for us, I'm sure.
Still 6 boards, 3 on offense, in 10 minutes is impressive. I think UT needs BHH to be a star to be a great team, need that 3rd stud down low, imo

You're are really just wrong on pretty much every front on this one. Santi had become a very good defender. He was 4th on the team in defensive box +/- behind JJJ, Yves, and Gaines who barely played. Also had a very good defensive rating at 94.8 per 100 possessions. That notion is very misguided at this point. JJJ and Fulky were our best two rebounders last year as well, and Fulky pulled down 10 of them today. We already know that JJJ and Vescovi are good defenders, Chandler looks to be a good defender as well, Fulkerson was right up there as well last year. So that would just leave Powell, who isn't the best defender, but would obviously be on the court for offensive purposes in that scenario.

I'm more optimistic for this team than last year and I predicted UT's second Elite 8. I think we get it, this year, 25+ wins and maybe a SEC Championship of some kind
