Tebow fumbles first snap / Says he has strep throat...

A solid, spiritual college graduate who has been a winner all of his life.
Yeah, he's a terrible person.

i'm not saying he is a terrible person. all i am saying is the only evidence given that he is a good person is him preaching the gospel and keeping out of jail. the overwelming majority of us can accomplish the latter and the former means nothing.

It's not smack talk. It's true. If Tebow fails after the way Alex Smith flopped, don't think that the thought won't enter a top notch QB's head.

Agreed. It's also not smack talk to say that if ut goes 7-6 with another thrashing in a mediocre bowl that ANY top recruits at ANY position will have that in their head.

So Tebow gets credit for the W in '06? Well, it is only fitting. That will be his only worth in the NFL

4 victories over the vols have probably raised his stock.

No, it won't. He's had the same fundamental problems in his mechanics throughout his college career. He's no NFL quarterback at the moment, and I doubt that changes instantly in the next few weeks.

What's your point?

Some will see it as an opportunity to contribute right away to a program that's down. Some will see it as a negative and look elsewhere.

Florida not being able to develop NFL caliber qb's certainly hasn't hurt them, but it will discourage those who have a legit shot to come play for a team that runs an offense that isn't very conducive to the NFL.

and how does that have anything to do with their NFL prospects? I didn't think this was too difficult a concept

Most people, including myself, don't have a problem with his message or endorsement of a cause, but rather the timing.

Super Bowl Sunday is a time to pick squares, drink beer, and laugh at the commercials. To find out Tebow and his crypt keeper mother are preaching is a bit of a downer. I'd rather watch a Go Daddy commercial than a Pro Life pitch during the Super Bowl, and so would 95% of the people that actually watch the Super Bowl.

Maybe it's the massive inconvenience of hitting the volume or channel button on the remote and not the timing that bothers "95%" of the people. Same reason it's easier to throw garbage out of the car window than wait and dispose of it properly. It's the timing of when the garbage presents itself.

Not any number of posts trying to change the topic at hand will change any facts about his limited QB ability or that he's Falwell in a football helmet, only dumber.

I happen to agree that his likelihood of becoming a contributing NFL QB is remote. Doesn't affect any other comments posted.

To compare Tebow and garbage is the best analogy you've made so far.

In other words all you've got is smack talk and nothing to refute the fact that Urban Meyer doesn't develop NFL QB's.

if tebow was an atheist or god forbid a muslim and did the same thing most people here woudl go bat****. the fact is he only gets the leway he does BECAUSE he is christian and not the other way around.

I agree. If he was a Muslim with a criminal record of beating women that flunked out of school and threw 6 interceptions against Cincinnati, some people might feel differently about him.

Too bad Tebow doesn't have a mean streak. Could be a good linebacker. I think he'll be a tight end. Fullback sometimes on passing plays.

i see so he's a good person because a) he is good at football and b) he doesn't beat women. thank you for proving my point.

Thought you said it wasn't smack talk.

Meyer has developed an NFL QB, Alex Smith. I will give you that if he promises every QB that goes to UF that he guarantees them a job in the NFL, then he might be untruthful.

I just don't see the point. Top programs produce NFL players just like smaller programs at all positions.

So Urbie has a guy for four years and he never learned to take a snap under center. That has got to be a powerful recruiting pitch for QBs wanting to make it to the NFL.

Not just "a guy," even; Meyer took the #1 high school quarterback in the whole country, coached him for four years, and now all the scouts say that his mechanics would have to be rebuilt completely from scratch for him to have a shot at playing QB in the pros. Any top pro-style HS QB who has designs on playing in the NFL would have to be a bonehead to go to Florida.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think it won't become at least somewhat of an issue.

You're probably right. If your secret ever gets out, UF may never sign another QB that can throw and the Gators will have adopt an offense similar to Navy's.

I don't disagree that some high school QBs believe that going to UF will prevent them from making the NFL. That's fine. IMO, that changes nothing about the quality of a program. Meyer's program is different.

Given a choice, I'll take a winning program at UF and many kids going to the NFL as opposed to putting a QB in the NFL, occasionally, and a mediocre college program.
