Tebow Goes in First Round to Denver

I hate Florida I really really do. However Tebow is not a bad guy. He has good leadership skills , an excellent work ethic, and there is very little chance of any off the field issues with him. I dont think he will start right away but I could see him doing decently in a few years. Do I think he will be a super great QB probably not but not one of the worst either.

Don't think they drafted a wildcat quarterback in the first round.

I'm just reaching for justification. I don't see a scenario in which Tebow is ever as good of a standard NFL quarterback as either Orton or Quinn. And, uh, they aren't very good.

I am not so sure.. I have to believe he is or will be better than Quinn. I dont know much about Orton though.

work ethic and all this other stuff is great but sheesh guys he isn't an NFL qb he faced 2 NFL defenses this year didn't do well against any of them! Goes down to the senior bowl and was exposed once again! Look changing your mechanics and all is good throwing against no defense makes you look good also but no of that matters if you cannot read a defense...how is alex smith doing coming from the same offense? Thats what I thought...jimmy clausen and colt mccoy will be far better qb's in the NFL than tebow

I don't think Tebow will last long in Denver. They don't have a gay community on account of the LDS influence.

Ok I can see how Colt Mccoy could be better. I dont see Clausen doing any better than Quinn is doing now. ND has had relatively easy schedules the past couple of years and still could do no better than 7 wins.

I'm so sick of hearing about Tebow's character, leadership, good behavior, blah, blah, blah. All that crap will be thrown out the window in a few years if (and when) he can't produce results on the field.

Tim Tebow won't be half the QB in the NFL that Vince Young is - and that's not saying much. Both have bad mechanics - but Tebow will get eaten alive - doesn't have near the zip on the ball and just can't make a lot of the throws.

You can't watch Jimmy Clausen throw and then watch Tebow throw and tell me that Clausen won't be more successful. Throwing screens to Demps/Rainey/Hernandez and bomb passes to Cooper doesn't make you an awesome passing QB. That's all the Tebow had to do in college - otherwise he ended up throwing a pick - like anytime he threw towards Berry. Clausen slung it all over the field and made every throw - constantly make NFL-type passes too.

Hmm....I'm going to buck the trend here and say that this wasn't that bad of a pick. Is Tebow NFL ready right now? No, not at all, unless McDainels has a special package that he intends to use him in. Could Tebow become a stellar NFL QB? I think he can. He's got the attitude, work ethic, and not to mention, the talent to do some things. He just needs time.

If the Broncos were willing to take Tebow in the 1st round -- and clearly they were going to be able to get him there -- then why trade for Quinn? What are they doing? If Tebow is the Quarterback Of The Future for the Donkeys -- which he has to be now, given that they blew a first round draft pick on him -- they why do they need two Average Caretaker QBs in front of him? I just don't get it. What's the plan?

I don't get this pick. Didn't they draft a running back last year? Speaking of, that's two players on the Broncos now that Berry has bulldozed.

Congrats to Tebow but I don't get it. But hey, we'll see him in action soon enough.

I became a pro football fan 15 years ago.

I learned 14 years ago not to judge NFL decisions in the draft until at least 2 years down the road.

Denver may trade him. He may never play a down outside of preseason. He might be used as a TE. He might a Pro Bowler.

Whatever their reason, Denver sure thought a lot more of him than others did.

Josh McDaniel is a hell of a QB coach. He has his work cut out for him with Tebow but if you're going to take a chance on a guy you couldn't take a guy with better character and work ethic. I hope he does well.

Work ethic is a great attribute to have. Look at Peyton Manning. However, it takes a lot more than work ethic to be a great QB in the league. It is obviously not impossible that Tebow becomes a good QB in the league, but he'll need more than work ethic and attitude.

The problem with the choice is that Denver did not have the luxury of selecting ANY QB, much less Tebow, in the first round! Drafting Clausen or McCoy would've only been slightly less dumb.

You can buck the trend here all you want, but it was a pretty stupid pick when it comes to filling needs.

Denver is thin at TE though, Tebow would make a good one of those.

McDaniel better hope Tebow pans out, as his fate could be tied to Tebow's.
That said, Tebow provides a bit of a conundrum.
Regardless of the annoying amount of love he gets from the media (and the fact that he is a gator) you have to respect his football ability and drive. I have to wonder, had Tebow been "coached" during his college career, i.e. had his throwing mechanics honed over his 4 years in college, would he have been the first pick this year?
