Tebow Goes in First Round to Denver

Oh, I was surprised. Not shocled to the point of near death, like some around here evidently were. But I did not expect him to go until at least Friday, maybe Saturday.

Difference is, I recognize my own lack of knowledge on the subject and assume that people picking these players are a mite sharper than me on the subject.

I get that but you seem to be taking it all personally.

and if he succeeds, he'll redesign the game. There has never been a qb like him in the NFL. A body of a TE but a great throwing arm. If he can operate out of the shotgun on every snap and it works, the game will be reinvented. It could be like when Randall Cunningham led the way of the 'running QB' which opened up a new option at the position.
Isn't that the exact same thing we heard when Michael Vick got drafted? There have always been big guys at QB. There have always been guys that could run around.

I actually think Tebow can be an OK NFL QB, but I don't buy that he's going to be some revolutionary figure.

Pure truth! Florida has never produced an NFL QB that was worth two cents. The only offensive player worth a damn that came out of Florida was Emmit Smith.

Tebow was a huge gamble. A 1st round pick, in most instances, is expected to contribute early, not 3 or 4 years down the road. Tebow will need those years to develop into an NFL QB.

I dont blame Tebow. I blame his useless ex-coach, his playground football offense, and his in-ability to prepare his offensive playmakers for the NFL.

Tebow, Florida's stingy defense deny Tennessee upset

The Gators (3-0, 1-0) won their fifth straight in the series and set a school record with their 13th consecutive victory, now the longest in major college football after losses by Utah and Southern California.

No. 4 Gators continue turning rivalry vs. Vols into one-sided affair

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Florida took control on the opening kickoff and it didn't take long for Tennessee to become Gator Bait again.

No. 4 Florida beat its SEC East rival for the fourth consecutive year, a 30-6 rout of the self-destructive Volunteers on Saturday.

Tebow tosses two TD, runs for two more in rout of Tennessee

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (ESPN.com news services) -- Florida's "blue-out" turned into a blowout, courtesy of Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and Brandon James.

The trio made play after play Saturday, accounting for more than 600 all-purpose yards and lifting the fifth-ranked Gators to a 59-20 romp over No. 22 Tennessee on Saturday.

"Did they really?" coach Urban Meyer said. "Wow. My goodness."

His reaction may have summed up what all 90,707 on hand were thinking as the defending national champions gained an early advantage in the SEC East. The winner of this game has won the division 11 times in the last 14 years.

None of those previous meetings were nearly as lopsided. This was the largest margin of victory in the series since the Volunteers hammered the Gators 45-3 in 1990. It also was the most points Florida has scored in a conference game since beating Kentucky 59-31 in 2000 and the most it's scored against Tennessee since 1995 (62).

What has any of this got to do with the NFL?

College success does not always equate to NFL success

Your man love for Tebow will not get him through the NFL.

Faster players, better coaches, more complex schemes.

No more run-stop-jump passes for ole' Tim.

I believe it has SOMETHING to do with the NFL.

Other than that, I completely agree with you.

Actually, they did.

It's amazing how many times you've been wrong about football since you've joined the board. You may know more about laws and such, but when it comes to football your borderline retarded. It's great that you finished law school and make good money, but this is a football board not a laws board, and when you have no clue what you are talking about 90% of the time it makes you look silly.

*sigh

I miss hearing you destroy people on xbox live, harry.

I think Tebow may be successful in the NFL, if Denver uses him in unconventional ways. He IS a running back that can throw. That's not a bad thing. I don't think he's a franchise QB, but he's a hell of a change-up, backup, or wild cat type back.

Get him on the field, but play to his strengths.

1. "That said, this was a terrible draft pick."

2. "I'm not sure if he'll do well at the next level ...."

Does anyone else besides me see a contradiction in unequivocally saying picking guy was stupid and then in the next sentence saying you don't know how he'll do?

You don't pick a guy in the first round with Tebow's question marks, especially when he'd be available later.

No. The point us about when the draft happened given the near unanimous apprehension.

these decisions ran the guy through drills to test him according to their criteria. Might they be wrong? Sure. But right now I put infinitely more stock in their opinion than I do the combined NFL expertise of everyone on this board, which is basically nill.

I guess we're idiots for agreeing with the 31 other teams that think he freaking sucks. Now please retaliate with some ridiculous post about how we're just hoping he'll fail because he was 3-0 against UT. You might also throw in a quick comment about how my conservative beliefs are rooted in racism.

Very classy and very wrong.

I admire your honest admission of the double standard/hypocrisy.

Tell me, have you been plagued with UT fans posting on your message boards getting all emotional defending the honor of Eric Berry?

No.

Grow up and/or lighten up. No honor defending here.

Just a rival fan disagreement of opinion.

It's football, entertainment and big money, not the oppressed peoples of Africa.

Cut the passive-aggressive bull**** and repeat posting.

BREAKING NEWS! Jimmy Hymans is reporting that McDaniels drafted TeBlow because he is creating a new offense called the "Slice & Dice" aka the "Circumcision".

Congrats to Crompton ! The kid endured a lot and deserves the opportunity.

However, if Tim was a reach at #25 according to the "experts", then wasn't Crompton was also a big reach at #168, right ???

Not really a "big" stretch. I have a lot of doubts about whether or not he'll be able to play at the next level, but the bottom of the fifth round is where you go to draft backup QBs or projects.

Tim Tebow was drafted at #25 in the FIRST ROUND of 2010 NFL Draft.

In spite of many media know-it-alls and message board gurus, a multimillion dollar pro sports franchise chose to invest in a quality young man who has been a winner at everything he does.

The same multimillion dollar sports franchise that fired Mike Shanahan and hired Josh McDaniels, then allowed him to run off their two best offensive players. Try again.

Sorta but the were already running qbs before Vick. There hasn't been a shotgun qb that not only can run but throw. Marino was heavily shotgun but that's cause he had no knees and couldn't run.
Either the team will have to adapt to TT or TT will have to adapt to the NFL. It's a huge multi million risk

I love how we are supposed to think that Tebow will be good because an NFL team took a chance on him in the first round, I mean NFL teams don't miss in the first round just ask Kijana Carter, Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, Robert Gallery, Todd Marinovich, Lawrence Phillips, Cade McNown, Jim Druckenmiller, Heath Shuler, etc. etc. etc.
