What do you suggest over YouTube?
You do realize Google is much much bigger than just the search engine, don’t you?
Until there is viable competition, these companies have much more power to influence American elections than foreign countries ever did.
It’s censorship combined with mind control (search suggestions) to try to achieve their desired outcome.
Infuriating.
YouTube has no real competition.
Twitter has no real competition.
Facebook has no real competition.
Suggesting someone use BING instead of Google is ignoring the larger problem.
These are communication platforms, not just “private companies”.
OP is about Google opposing Trump. You went from something completely plausible to totally ridiculous. How does reprogramming me bring about their social utopia? What is their social utopia?
Stop using facebook. Stop using youtube. Stop using twitter. They have market power because people use them. You don't have to use them. Nobody has to use them. What happens to you if you stop using facebook?
If youtube is as bad as everybody fears, then there is a huge business opportunity here. Youtube doesn't have some special business model, and there are alternatives. If youtube takes down your video, there are literally thousands of ways to get the same information out there. Do you know how easy it is to make your own website?
It kind of is this simple.
What bugs me is the plot of people who do nothing but complain about "big business" while living on their iphone and apps and using the very things that make these"big businesses" wealthy and powerful. Dolts. "Yeah, raise the corporate tax rate to over 50%...."..........."why did my phone bill double?...."
I'm sure Google has a couple of extra dollars laying around to help fund a modest research project.
If you don't like TVA, just build your own power plant!
If you don't like Monsanto, stop complaining and grow your own damn garden to feed your whole family.
Good practical advice. We can't complain unless we are willing to quit our jobs and work full time towards fixing the thing that is irritating us.

Google doesn't have a "couple extra dollars laying around" because they pursue nonsensical, ludicrous, and vague plans for shaping society into an unobtainable utopia at the expense of their own business. They're not dumb. This is like a plot in a bad James Bond movie. Even dumber.
Let's go back to the basis for this whole social utopia conspiracy theory conversation...why would Google pursue a costly and complicated objective to their own detriment that has almost no chance of working? Is that more plausible than Google's auto-complete simply generating clickbait based on machine-learning? Just think about which scenario is more likely. Think about which scenario makes more sense. If we're still on opposing sides, I don't think there is anything left to be said.
And what is Twitter's excuse for their selective banning based on merits of wokeness? Can't use your click bait theory for that.
I don't know. Monopolies are a tricky subject in the first place. Anti trust laws have a habit of cementing existing monopolies instead of breaking them up. But I think we should at least start to acknowledge what Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc. actually are. They are modern day tech monopolies over social media/ information distribution. They have disproportionate influence over the information we get to see on a daily basis.
I'm not suggesting anything other than to start calling Silicon Valley what it actually (or at least practically) is. A conglomeration of separate companies that form a practical monopoly on distribution of information. We disagree that they work together. To me, there are clearly similar agendas between the companies, and the linked video is evidence that Google practices censorship and social engineering. No mention in the video of prioritizing based on click bait.
