:rtfm:Let him go back to little lane, he will be looking for a job this time next year and coach Jones can tell him go fly a kite with lane.

The dude was so happy, cheering on the TV interview when Kentucky beat us.

Then he joined Lane Kiffin, after what he did to Tennessee.

Then instead of turning down the job Butch offered him on the phone(No media), he had to fly down here for the Media and to get publicity.#TurneddownTennessee

Instead of rebuilding Tennessee he choose to help tear it down. By recruiting players away from us to USC to help Lane.

You people say, "I wish him well, he is a VFL after everything he has done for tennessee."

What has he ever done for Tennessee? Besides be on the 98 team?

Nick Saban won a NC at LSU. Do you think LSU fans say...
"Yeah that Nick Saban guy is a true LSU Tiger". LSUforlife

No LSU fans hates Nick Sabans guts

While I dont hate Tee Martin he is no more a VFL then Lane Kiffin....

You and all 39 likes of your post are idiots.

Plain and simple. I'm not sorry I said it. You are idiotic.

I am upset that a former player did not come back. But his life is better at USC, obviously. So more power to him.

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at our garbage AD and his rushed choice of a head coach.

I have zero faith in them. So I could understand that.

Grow up and leave the uneducated bubble you are in. Tee Martin is more VFL than any of us.

Thankfully, being VFL does not entail entertaining clueless fans beyond your Senior year of college.

For real. If I were a former UT player and I felt like it was my responsibility to keep the volunteer fan base happy for the rest of my life , I'd totally blow my head off. We are a passionate bunch. but we have the most idiotic fan base in the country.

Lets face it, college football is now a business.

"Now" seems like it's been that way for quite a while. Big money network deals and the Longhorn Network, SEC Network---it's all about the all mighty dollar. I wouldn't just rule out Tee forever though--you never know when another opportunity could come up.

You're an idiot. He's going to do what's best for him and his family, not what some whine bag like you wants. What's he done? What's he done that says he's supposed to be tied down to Tennessee his whole life? Go away.

For all you morons on here saying Tee isn't a "VFL" ... get real, dudes! Are you serious. The guy helped lead us to a national championship. He has a degree from UT, which is something the majority of you clowns on here do not have. So what if Tee declined to come home to Tennessee. It's a business decision. He's simply doing what he feels is in he best interest of his career and his family. I'm a UT alum, but I no longer live in Knoxville. If I were offered a job at UT, for less pay and seemingly fewer career moves from there, would I not be a VFL if I turned it down? Sorry for rambling, but you idiots saying Tee isn't a VFL need to get a life.

I don't get the hate towards Tee. I actually respect his decision and his commitment. I would have loved to see him back at UT but who am I to judge or criticize him for rejecting an offer by CBJ? We don't know the dynamics involving the needs or wants of his family or what Tee views as the right path to his ultimate career goals. We all have an opinion of what he should do and it more than likely are for selfish reasons. He has given and contributed a lot to UT and to our pleasure in watching the Vols but that was then. This is purely a business and a career decision on his part and the fact that he is a former QB here no longer weighs in those decisions. He may feel that USC is in a position to elevate his stock in the coaching profession than UT is, at the moment. Or it may be as simple as his wife wears the pants in that house and would slap the dog crap out of him for even thinking of draggin her butt out of sunny So.Cal. Either way, don't hate the playa, hate the game.

While I fully support the free speech that makes America great, I'm ashamed that some of our fans feel the need to start threads like this-- threads bashing someone who has represented this university well, taken our football team to its greatest heights and has never had anything but good things to say about his alma mater. It's too bad we can't treat him with the same respect and courtesy. It's even more shameful that we have three or four of these threads, each more venomous than the next!

I am very surprised and disappointed, but his reasoning showed integrity, and I respect that. At least Lame isn;t rubbing off on him.

it had nothing to do with his family...think about it...he has the #1 receiver in all of cfb coming back next year, a possible heisman candidate, and if Lee does as good as this year, it will do nothing but boost Tee,s credit...

he made a trip to UT to hear what they had to offer

he benefits more by staying at USC where big time recruits "reload" year after year...

All in all, if he is trying to boost his career, he made the right choice for now...

I wonder if Butch really wanted Tee and really tried to get him or if this was just to appease the fans??
He offered the job 2 days ago before the trip to Knoxville....does Butch even know Tee? Had they met before? Had their paths crossed? who knows, just seems odd to me

I agree with OP that Tee is definitely not VFL. Bottom line = he chose Kiffin over UT. No VFL chooses Kiffin over UT. I could understand taking the USC job with the Dooley situation. Absolutely no problems there. But now...no excuses, and this bullcrap about "I made a commitment to the players"...give me a break. So apparently he didn't make any commitments to UK players, right? Whatever.
So what if he committed to Kiffin that is his boss who hired him. Doesn't make him any less of the Guy that won a NC. He doesn't have to come back to TN. Dribble.

100% Agree. Some people just don't understand he has let go that being a Vol.

The reason really doesn't matter to me just like Gruden not coming. I still like them both. Disappointed yes, moving on, yes. If people don't want to be here better they and we move on. Done deal.

His "reasoning" being that he was committed to the players he recruited? Interesting that 12 months ago that he left the KY players he recruited. Was he not "committed" to them? Looks to me like He is becoming Lane Jr.

Just because someone played here doesn't make him VFL. Is D. Rogers VFL? Lol. Just because he was on a national championship team doesn't make him VFL either. But still I don't think he's not VFL. But am I 100% he is? I don't know.

Johnny Majors left a National Championship team at Pitt to take over a Tennessee program that was in dire straits in 1976. That my friends is a true VFL!!
