Tee's coming home

Flat out wrong. Many, many places in this great country are just as hospitable as the south. I love my wife, that's the only reason I reside here. I have many great friends that do or die by the 'southern creed", whatever that is. And I would bend over backwards to help them if asked. But on the flip side, the education level, IMO, is sorely lacking in the southern states. Basically, a region that puts religion above education is what they do in places like Iran and Afghanistan and it stunts or inhibits the populace from free thinking (the south). Back on subject, if Tee decides to once again become a Vol, hell yes - Welcome Back!

So are you saying we are ignorant for having faith in God because that's about how us dumba $$ southerners take that. It's called Faith for a reason. GOD, FAMILY AND COUNTRY. Many uneducated southerners have gave their lifes for people like you to have the right to your higher education. They fought against the people you try to say they are like.

Oh yeah, Like we're not as smart down here in the south. Just look at how we screwed up Atlanta compaired to how the smarter yanks have built the great city or Detroit. Just one example. Don't make me go on.

Very ironic that the ones that declare us being ignorant for believing in God, Family, and Country are the one's that are driving the rest of us with 2 eyes to the exact situation that a War of Independence was fought to begin with. Having a degree, state certifications, higher education doesn't make you intelligent. It means you can read information and regurgitate at an average level. More about hard work than intelligence. Trust me I work with some 'educated' morons.

That's a mighty big stretch you're making when KoachKletus said nothing of the sort. What he/she did say is that our educational levels are subpar and that's a fact. We have willfully neglected education for decades and we're reaping those rewards. If you don't like that fact, and I for one don't, we have a means of changing it but we have to vote for change and pressure lawmakers to do something about it other than their usual inane self-serving media grabbing legislative proposals that do nothing but make us look like laughingstocks.

He or she also alluded to the fact that we have a bunch of congresscritters in Nashville and other state houses across the region that are more worried about passing laws legislating the word 'gay' in schools and making sure that kids continue to think babies come from storks, when a boy touches a girl's bellybutton, or that a girl doing jumping jacks afterwards will take care of the problem than they are about making sure students have basic proficiency in subjects like reading, writing, math, or biology.

Wow. I'm on KoachKletus' side here (in that I value education higher than religion), honestly, and everyone jumping in to argue against is kinda just proving his point. I don't talk religion here because THIS IS A FOOTBALL FORUM. That being said, let's drop this and talk some football.

I thought this was supposed to be about Tee coming home. Anyway, so if he doesn't, who gets hired?

I'm sure it will be TJ Yeist, or whatever his name is. If Tee doesn't come, letting Hinshaw go was even stupider than it initially appeared.

Wood Man & Volingatorland you're right this is supposed to be about Tee coming back home. I think it all started when folks pointed out that SoCal was nice and others said that the South was the best place in the whole world and has spiraled out from there.

I don't know how we get back on topic since I do think that SoCal being a nice place to live would factor in to any decision process Tee and the family are going through just as Knoxville being 'home' would factor in as well.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this , but Tee said, "He would talk to his family and decide." How much do you think that the fact his wife is an R&B singer and now living so close to L.A. would factor into this decision. After all, you have to keep things happy on the home front even if that home is not hers.

"It was good to meet with coach Jones," Martin said. "It's a great opportunity to come back home, but I've not made my decision. I'm going to go back to L.A. tomorrow morning and talk with Lane and then make my decision."

Jones offered Martin the job on Sunday morning. From there, Martin made a decision to come to Knoxville to see things first hand before making a final decision to either return to his alma mater or stay in Southern California.

"I wanted the chance to come out and meet coach face to face," Martin said. "There is a good vibe around the building and you can tell he has a good energy. No matter what I decide you can tell that he's going to be successful."

The thing I can't figure out is why he wouldn't think about the ramifications of his actions to his alma mater. He is going to publicly deny us after visiting with the staff...this will say a number of things to recruits and the public....one being that he doesn't think the staff is good enough for him or to win a championship, because we know the reason wont be because he doesn't like the school, university, fan base, facilities, or $$$$.

He is also publicly choosing Kiffin, who is one of the most hated individuals in the country by UT fans, over us. People can say all they want about not losing respect for him due to what he has given us and what other factors could have played a role in his decision; but he had to realize what he was doing and what could possibly result from those decisions being so public.

I agree with you 1000%

While I agree the level of Education(through the Secondary level) is lacking in most southern states, I cannot seem to find the connection that has with religion. I consider myself to be a fairly educated southern man, with a Bachelor's degree and only a few hours short of an MBA. I am also a Christian who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for our sins. Additionally, I find it to take a larger leap of faith to believe that the entire universe suddenly appeared out of nothing without the works of a divine source than to believe as I do. In my opinion, the very notion defies the laws of physics that "educated" people believe to be infallible. I am making the assumption that, judging by your screen name, you are an actual Professor at the University of Tennessee. That being said, perhaps you are adding to the "lack of education" issue if your teachings are consistent with the ignorance contained within your last paragraph. If you truly believe such things are actively being taught in school systems in the south, perhaps you should spend a bit more time getting "educated".

Austin Price met with Tee....perhaps Tee was willing to talk a little more to TOS than the Sentinel....but you have way more posts than me so you are probably right.......

Wait, post count = cred? Could have fooled me. I can think of one very specific poster with close to 40k posts in 3 years that if he told me the sun was certainly going to rise in the morning, I'd start buying up flashlights.

Just an example, post count =/= validity.
