Tenn. Senate OKs Bill To Allow Anti-Evolution Talk In Classrooms

You are the closest thing to what the bible describes as a pharisee.

Amazing you would even think the arrogance part would even be related to christs gift of salvation.

Truly sad

Salvation is the confession of sin and faith in Christ as saviour, not quite sure where you are going with this.

I don't appreciate your personal attacks on me. I see Christian arrogance as people who think if you don't read the same version of the Bible as they do, or worship in the same denomination they do, or see things exactly the same way they do then you're bound for Hell. I have made it clear I believe none of those things so you've got that all wrong.

The pharisees were people who prayed on the street corners for all to see hoping to impress them. They carried the entire scriptures in their memories to quote for people hoping to impress them with their knowledge. God said they got their just reward here on earth. I bave stated clearly that I am no theologian and freely admitted that I didn't know what you were talking about when you thought you had me all figured out. Your accusations and criticism are completely unfounded. I have not said anything on here to lead you to believe that I am morally superior to any other poster. I have made it clear that I am a sinner...not a self righteous prick. What part of my posts seems arrogant to you? And why would I care?

Sure thing sparky, people like you do more to damage christs message than any non believer

Please explain. With fact not opinion. I have stated the salvation plan...with no bias towards denomination or version of the bible. I think people like you who profess to be Christians and then post 30000 posts filled with profanity and gay/ racial slurs dirty Christs name more than I ever could. Every other post in the Zone from you is profane. I freely aedmit I am a sinner...never pretended to have it all figured out. You are in no position to judge me...nor I to judge you.

I'm not sure what either of those are bud. No sarcasm intended. I go to an independent baptist church. I don't think denominations are imporant though. I think salvation is. I'm sure to these folks I'm narrow minded but I'm really not. I don't care if a person is protestant or catholic.. I. Think that, as the Bible states, the only way to get to Heaven is to truly believe that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and raised from the dead to atone for the sins of mankind. I believe any man, regardless of race creed or denomination calls on Christ and truly repents (turn away) from their sins they have eternal security in our Lord. It is a free pardon, given to us by His grace(unmerited favor) and I. Truly wish this for all mankind. I don't force my views on anyone. I would never let the State or anyone else force this theory on my kids...and call it fact. I freely admit my beliefs take faith. None of these people will admit that their beliefs in something that can't be observed requires faith as well. On a side note- I live in NC and drive an old truck with 250k miles on it so my kids can go to Christian school- what Tennessee teaches in their classrooms doesn't effect me at all personally. These science teachers who knowingly push a theory as fact when it comes to the origin of life are in a dangerous position. The Bible says it is better to have a millstone tied around your neck and be cast into the sea than to lead a single child away from the Lord. I will continue to pray about this issue and could not possibly care less what these heathens think about me.

Marcus, I applaud your diligence and passion. I'm a proud Christian who tries to grow everyday. I realize this isn't the point of this thread, but I'd like to raise an issue to you that I recently brought up to my Priest. You argue that the only way to salvation is by professing loyalty to JC and by believing in his resurrection and all that good stuff. My issue with that is the fact that Christianity is, what, the third most popular religion in the world? If you believe the teachings of Jesus and the point of His sacrifice, then how could you believe that such an incredible majority of the world is damned to Hell? Doesn't that contradict his forgiving and all-loving nature?

To bring this back to the thread, I don't see how evolution even conflicts with teaching creationism as a theory. Evolution isn't an explanation for how the world began. It's an explanation for how things progressed. No matter how you think it all started, creationism is a widely accepted theory, and I'm fine with it being taught as a theory. I also support other theories being discussed, too. It's a beautiful topic and a great one to send kids home with.

Why are you hung up on salvation?

30000 posts doing what?

Interesting points you raise. As a matter of evolution being a change in species over time I believe it myself. Some of it is clearly demonstrated in a lab (bacteria etc.) The problem is they teach the "rock wash/ primordial soup" theory as fact and lump it all together. As an origin of life evolution is far fetched at best. To summarize, this is how this thread has gone:

I believe everything (the universe) came from something (God)

They believe everything (matter, life) came from nothing (nothing?)

I believe both theories should be taught in school (as theory, not fact...since neither can be proven)

They believe their theory should be taught as fact, mine has no place in schools

The fact that the Bible says there is only 1 path to salvation is quite serious. My questions internally were very similar. I wondered about the native americans we slaughtered when we took this land from them. While God is love he is also a God of wrath. Reading about Job or Sodom and Gomorrah shows while He is merciful, He is still God and not to be disobeyed or questioned. I definitely don't have all the answers man. Never pretended to...I know that in Noahs flood God killed every human on the planet save Noahs family. I know He also says. (Paraphrase) narrow is the way to heaven but wide is the path to destruction. I guess the passage that shaped my views the most was when Christ said "no man shall come to the Father but by me." There are many other examples (Romans) of the Bible saying only believers in Jesus will be in heaven. Maybe your priest can help you to understand better. When I have trouble understanding something I pray for wisdom and discernment before I read scripture. If you have different ideas or He reveals something to you please share. I welcome your opinions and beliefs. Honestly I'm a little run down from trying to defend what I believe here. There's. A lot I am still trying to figure out myself. It is my hearts desire to raise my children and live my life in a manner that will bring glory to Him. I fail everyday...in one way or another.

On your first point: that is something I never understood either. I'm agnostic, raised in a not very strict Christian home, and can't fathom the idea that if I live a true and just life that I will not be accepted to heaven (if there is one) simply because I didn't accept JC. But a murderer on death row can repent at the last minute and be accepted. Its something that truly turns me off on religion. My mom and I debate this much more often than I care too. I also don't feel that the reward/punishment of the afterlife should be the guiding influence in good morals.

On your second point: as an agnostic I have no problem believing that A God (if there is one) created the universe and the mechanisms that make it function (including evolution). However, I don't think that should be taught in science class. Furthermore, the term "creationism" is usually used to describe the literal translation of Genesis. That Adam and Eve were the fist two humans and every one else is descended from them and the linage can be traced back approximately 6000 years. THAT should definitely not be taught in science class. Different churches have varying views on this but regardless it has no place in the science class.

Marcus, do you believe the dinosaurs came before Adam and Eve? Or do you think humans and dinosaurs co-existed?

I'm not sure...the bible does mention dragons but I don't know when the Dinosaurs were here. Goliath is also not the only giant in the bible. Others are mentioned though I don't believe by name. There is still a lot of the word I don't know and many questions in my own mind. I certainly welcome your opinion. I'm only 35 years old and I. Didn't know Christ until 2003. I still have a lot to learn. I want to learn Greek and Hebrew so I can translate from the original texts myself.

So you dont believe that angels intermingled with humans and created a race of giants?

Genesis 6: 1 through 4

Nobody has a clue how old the earth is.

but scientist who claim they know exactly the age of the earth are just as foolish as theologist who claim the same thing.

Yes I believe that. I said there were other giants besides Goliath but I didn't think they were named. Are you high? Cops aren't supposed to get high bro. Especially not state troopers.
