Georgia/Texas loser will move us to Neyland
Bama is behind Clemson and they play Auburn.I want to be the #5 seed. And bama looks like they will sneak in
We don’t know if teams are going to be penalized for losing their conference championship game. Especially a team like Georgia who has already beaten Texas at their place.Scenario 1) TX beats A&M and then beats GA. GA is out and we host game
Scenario 2) TX loses to A&M and A&M beats GA. GA is out, TX moves to 6-8 and TN plays on road.
Scenario 3) TX beats A&M and loses to GA. GA gets bye, TX moves to 6-8 and TN plays on road.
There is not a scenario where TN plays GA again in the fist round.
Correct. The main deviation from tonight I am dealing in is that Georgia is winning the SEC which will be a home game for them and OSU / Oregon loser is the first non conf champ seed (5 seed).
So in that sense, its a matter of who gets the 6,7, and 8 seeds hosting playoff games between Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas, and Tennessee....
Since the committee is willing to buck teams with unequal records (see Georgia and Tennessee tonight over a 1 loss Indiana), Tennessee blowing out Vandy this weekend could go a long way in the Texas vs Tennessee debate on that final host seed.
There’s absolutely a scenario where Tn plays UGA in the first round. First, if UGA wins this Friday against Tech, they’re in the playoffs, regardless of what happens in the SEC championship game. Secondly, even if they lose to Tx or A&M, there’s no guarantee that the committee would hold that against them as far as seeding goes.Scenario 1) TX beats A&M and then beats GA.

3 loss Georgia would be behind 2 loss Tennessee. We've been repeatedly ranked behind teams we beat in these rankings with the same number of losses. Aka head to head has been meaningless for us in 2022 and 2024.I think a Georgia SEC Champ will push us to the final host seed. I'm not sure a Texas SEC champ will drop Georgia below us with that head to head they hold over us. Committee just said losses don't matter in the record column with Indiana being dropped below UGA and Tennessee
