Personally, I don't think much will be learned looking at next years team and results. I think I could likely coach that team and get respectable results - if we assume everyone returns. Kind of like Dool's first year - or first couple of years. Let's see what happens with the 2014-2015 team and season results.

Is there a method to the madness. Is there a plan in place. Will these middle of the road players with a quality player or two make an SEC contender? Or will the poor shooting - 2 star projects fail to develop as hoped.

I really, really, like Coach QM as a person -- but if he can't recruit and put an NCAA team on the court consistently -- then I will continue to like him - but hopefully at another institution. The same would apply to Butch Jones - although I am more inspired by the football staffs early recruiting efforts.

Couldn't agree more. With McRae, Stokes, Maymon (back from injury), and Hubbs coming in, this team has all the potential.\

I don't see McRae or Stokes making the jump to the NBA.

You and others keep saying that, but based on talent in the preseason, I could've taken the UK team to at least the NCAA tournament this year. If you really could coach, then you would be. Don't act like it won't take an effort from Martin.

Coachin is easy when you got players. Then if you dont win, players are a bust or Fire Quonzo!!!

Nah, I knew we would have a rough go without Maymon. Must have been some unintelligent folk you heard. The 13-14 squad has a chance to make a deep run if they keep their heads out of the ass region.

If/when Tennessee is dancing next year you better believe we will see all sorts of, I could've gotten them there, or Pearl would've taken them further posts...regardless of what happens there will the usuals you know who's.

Not the x's and o's - it's the Jimmys and Joes. You give me Louisville's or Michigan's talent this year - let me bring in a couple of decent assistant coaches and I would have won the SEC. Yes - I am not a coach -- but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

UK went dramitically South when they lost their best big man - not a fair analogy imo.

Dude -- One thing I will say is that Pearl has had the better recruiting classes thus far. I don't think that anyone can dispute that. It really has nothing to do with Pearl - last I checked he was in Marketing selling frozen goods. It is Martin vs. the rest of the coaches including those that have consistently made it to the NCAA tournament. If Martin makes it next year and doesn't the following two years - not good enough in my opinion. Really has nothing to do with Pearl. You guys need to let that go - we just expect a winner and not a mediocre team and product.

If Martin can get us there - great.

Martin needs the team to start the season with a bang. Nov/Dec has been disappointing the last 2 years.

Yeah people get a tad bit sensitive over opposing viewpoints on here.....I agree with you and am worried about our future....I don't think his recruiting has been good enough to make us a consistent winner.

I think Maymon bringing it up as much as possible, if he is healthy enough. McRae and Richardson could be used to help, also assuming they get better with their age and expierence. Hope Hubbs could help as well.

He obviously wanted some role players. You're willing to throw the coach out/under the bus after he attempts to do the job the way he sees fit. He has a plan, even if it is not seen yet.

So Tennessee obviously had needs which needed to be enhanced......needs that hindered our chances to make the tournament.....Zo brings in 3 wing role players.....one of which is a juco player that had trouble receiving playing time.....I'm sure every coach has a plan......message boards are where fans discuss whether they feel coaches are doing a good job or not.....I feel the second class was pretty sub par.

Pretty early to pass judgement on that class. I'll admit Edwards has been disappointing so far, but with Reese and Moore there have been definite hints of potential. If you judged the signing class of 2011 (e.g Golden, McRae, Harris, Maymon transfer) directly after 2011 you probably would have been disappointed as well. Let's wait and see where these guys stand in a couple of years.
