I love that, but even tho it bama its also SEC! SEC against Independent..... SEC all day! Now if it were UF and bama..id pick bama. Georgia and bama...id pick georgia ect.

ME!!! I hate Bama with every fiber of my being. Why would I want them to win a national title? All that does is increase the distance they currently hold on us. All it does for other SEC teams to win is hurt UT, especially since we are so down right now. I don't get why a true UT fan would want them to win?!!?

I don't see how anyone can root for bammer and claim to be a Tennessee fan, under any circumstances, ever. Just go ahead and switch sides and be done with it.

I agree I hope notre dame destroys them by 30 points are more it don't benefit us in any way Alabama winning and I can't stand notre dame either but the lesser of the two evils.

For the most part what benefits the SEC trickles down to all SEC schools. The prestige of winning 6 or 7 NC, SEC teams bennefits from recruits even if they don't play in the NC. Plus all the money that's brought in and distributed if an SEC school wind.

I wish the game wasn't happening because I despise both teams. I don't want either of them to win the National title but of course one of them will.

Decades of watching the SEC get cheated and robbed in the polls is why I will always and I mean always root for any SEC team over anybody else. Every time a SEC team wins OOC its good for every team in the conference because it cements our place as the top conference and that helps every SEC school recruit.

I hope Alabama pounds ND into dust and embarrasses them completely.

Ya gotta pull for your conference...I personally enjoy knowing we play in the unanimously best conference.....when the conference fails...the teams fail...just look at the big 10 then and now. Or conference strength is what gives us first pick on recruits..it puts us in a position to hire a good coach instead of an OC or D.C. like some schools are doing....were the pain in the ass of Texas, the big 12, the LongHorn network, the Pac12 and most definitely the ACC....top dogs don't get to the top without support...which is why I support my conference regardless....hell our reputation as a conference is the only reason we showed up in the AP after beating Nc state and GA State (right who???? ) Bama hatred is for the 3rd week in October....the rest of the year they don't exist unless it's helping UT in my book

As you can see by my screen name, I am vol first and sec second. UT being in the SEC is one of the things is has going for it in the current coaching search. If UT were 5-7 in another conference, there would be no talk of Stoops, Gruden, Strong, etc. Also, this is probably one of the main reasons we have been in the top 25 in recruiting the last few years (though Texas A&M joining the SEC hurt us last year some). Funny thing is I remember arguing 15 years ago with people on message boards about which conference is better SEC vs Big East.

Because I remember the 1990s.

Peyton Manning was denied the Heisman because he didn't have to face the "mighty" defenses of the Big 10 (we laugh today, but that was the view of everyone outside the South).

After the Vols won the national championship in 1998, a slew of articles appeared saying Ohio State could have beaten UT and FSU on the same night, Tennessee was undefeated because we didn't have to play a Big 10 schedule, etc. And I can't imagine what Auburn fans felt in 2004, when they finished undefeated, but got snubbed in the BCS.

It's important the SEC remain the premier conference, at least until there is a playoff system.

so we should expect UK to start pulling in top-15 recruiting classes?

the players want to go to teams winning championships not the teams that just happen to be on their schedule. Bama, UGA, UF, etc winning titles just pushes UT farther down the list of top choices

Go back if you played a sport in high school when yall played your rivals you always wanted to win...you wanted to wish ill on that school...and if that rival high school team made it to the title game would you want them to win? Heck no...what seems lost in some of yall is this "SEC" pride thing and the beating of the chest well ugh UT has contributed nothing an any sport to that...in 2012 we finished 11 out of 14 schools yay we suck so lets go cheer for others to be successful

The whole money thing is just dumb the SEC has a revenue sharing so no matter what happens in a bowl game the money will come to UT anyway...so bama winning a title doesn't do anything to hurt UT money wise...you ever see slive come out of the meetings in Destin and say well this school gets more money than this school...NO we're not the big 12...so for the ones saying money is it thats crazy learn your facts

Everyone in the whole damn nation knows we have the best conference, we don’t need Bama to win another championship to prove that...

Another truth is that when your team sucks like the Vols do.. we tend to pull for the SEC because we have nothing else to be proud of, nothing else to hang our hat on... The truth is, the longer Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Florida, etc... continue to go to SEC championships, win titles and win bowl games... we are never going to be able to close the gap.
