I will pull for every SEC team in bowl games, except Florida. I WILL NEVER PULL FOR FLORIDA.

Here's my philosophy:

If the University of Florida was Playing the Taliban, I'd be screaming Jihad.

I pull for the SEC against all others. Plus I hate Notre Dame a lot more than I hate Bama, and I really hate Bama.

It sorta works in reverse, too. The more titles the SEC wins, the more players around the nation will want to come play in the SEC. Bama and the rest of the SEC powers can only take so many top recruits. At some point, there will not be any more room on those teams, so then the remaining top recruits have to look at the rest of the SEC (aka, Tennessee) as well as other, non-SEC options (Notre Dame, SoCal, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Oregon, etc). If an SEC team wins the NC and several others are in the top-10 in the final rankings, it makes Tennessee that much more attractive to top players who might otherwise choose non-SEC schools. Simple.

Not to mention that the stronger our conference gets, the stronger our strength-of-schedule factor in the computer rankings.

Only fans of loser teams live vicariously through their more successful conference brethren. I remember when nearly all UT fans pulled against UF. Now we slobber all over Saban just so we can sit at home bowless and yell "SEC! SEC!" Pathetic.
I would pull for Lucifer over that punk Saban. God Bless the Holy Father Pope Benedict and that wonderful Catholic, godly institution known as Notre Dame! Down with the teabaggers!

If the last few BCS Champions were Oklahoma, Southern Cal and Ohio State, then I would grudgingly root for Bama out of SEC pride - but we are way past that point, no one disputes the SEC is #1

And the thrill of seeing people at Dollywood and the Knoxville Zoo in Bama gear has long since worn off

So for now I whisper an uninspired Go Irish, but once the game starts my feelings may change, if I care at all - I'm essentially VOLcentric and we have our own issues to focus on

The way you folks think, maybe we should just move to the MAC. We'd win 10 games(Maybe). Or even better, let's move to the Big East. God knows we do not want "Stiff" competition in our conference. Some of you make me sick. Rather than building up our program to meet the level of Bama, you'd rather pull Bama down to our level. Goddang buncha Socialists in the forum. Piss off.

i just hate ND more than Bama

For a few reasons
1) that ridiculous NBC contract
2) When I lived in Germany, the only FB I could get was ND on Sky Sports
3) at a ND Tennessee years ago, I approched Tommy Lasorda, in the Ice Hockey restroom (just before walking across the street to the game) and asked him if he would walk across the street to take a pic with some Tennesssee fans...He proceeded to talk about his appearance at the Friday pep rally, and love of ND, and how he hoped they beat Tennessee. Then as he finished washing his hands, and wiped them down the front of my sweatshirt, turned and walked out the door.

So that's why I hate Notre Dame

Couldn't agree more. Having attended UT in the early '80's, they were our most hated rival. This was before 12 teams and two divisions in the conference. Now we have Florida to hate even more. With that said, I will not pull for either in their bowl games. A loss and pain for them can only help us in recruiting. And I love the look on their fans faces when they lose!

I'm with you, man. Anyone who says they are a Vol fan and can pull for Alabama is either a) under 40 years of age b) or they just don't "get it" c) and/or dumber than hell

I think you confused him with yourself. You're cheering for a team you hate or should hate anyways. Think about how stupid that is for a second.

I don't know about you but I'm a fan of Tennessee, not a fan of Tennessee's rivals. Not only am I not a fan of rival teams in any sport but I'd go as far as saying I hate them. Judging by the fact that you're actually pulling for rivals, I'm going to assume you never played sports other than as a child where you proceeded to get a medal simply for participating. If you had played sports at a meaningful level, you'd understand the meaning of hatred for a rival.

It’s the dumbest notion ever. Look, I’m proud to be in the SEC, and there was a time where I did pull for the SEC over whoever else... but that was before we’d won 6 in a row. Everyone in the whole damn nation knows we have the best conference, we don’t need Bama to win another championship to prove that...

Another truth is that when your team sucks like the Vols do.. we tend to pull for the SEC because we have nothing else to be proud of, nothing else to hang our hat on... The truth is, the longer Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Florida, etc... continue to go to SEC championships, win titles and win bowl games... we are never going to be able to close the gap.

No one on here can pull for Alabama. I was going to, but the Fire Marshall has shut the bandwagon down. I have never in my life seen so many Alabama fans, Im speaking of Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City. Sick of them. GO IRISH, BUCK FAMA.
