Strong is absolutely a garbage hire for this program and if the pathetic Big East didn't have an automatic BCS bid then Good Time Charlie wouldn't even be sniffing the Sugar Bowl.

He has recruited well in the SEC before. He just went 10-2 after taking over a program that was 4-8 before he got there. He is going to a bowl game. Yes, you're right. This is a terrible hire.

I'm sorry, anybody believing Strong will be able to recruit and compete with Miles and Saban is delusional. That was and is the bar, and we will continue to be looking up at it instead of trying to get there. The bama streak will continue on, and the UF one isn't ending anytime soon.

Really really hope I'm wrong, and would gladly eat crow, but I just don't see it.

Look all coaches come from being Coordinators at some point, then move to a small school, then some of those that do well at those smaller schools move on to bigger programs.

Some work out, some don't but that is just how it is in College football, if you can't handle the facts then don't watch the sport....

It's a Gamble that must be taken. We hope it works out for us like it has for so many others.

Anybody who thinks this is potentially a bad hire is delusional. There are only a few ELITE coaches in college football Saban/Miles/Meyer/Kelly/Stoops.. Outside of those guys, every program is taking a chance. Did you consider any of these homerun hires at the time:?

Florida - Muschamp
Michigan - Hoke
A&M - Summelin
Penn State - O'Brien
Miami - Golden

They all seem to be doing well for themselves!!

Go back and see what kind of classes Miles had at Okie State before going to LSU

We're hoping another up and comer will make it? Didn't hire a big name again? If so...I'm through with it. Will stay away.

Might as well and save the buyout if we go with a garbage hire like Strong. Strong's pathetic recruiting (see UL's recruiting rankings under Good Time Charlie) won't come close to competing with FLA, ALA, UGA, or LSU.

I guess like Urben Myer , I know there was the same crowd on their boards saying WTF, he cant be the guy, a up and comming coach from Utah seriously ! and there are so many more like him that just needed their chance to get into a program with the right resources to take full advantage of their abilities as a coach.

I was with you until you said Petrino. Strong will change your mind when you see how strong recruiting class finishes. Expect Carl Lawson, V Bell, D Green to be Vols!

Damn since you know the future I should have asked you for the lottery numbers.Gundy's best ranked defense at Ok St is 61. Let that marinate in your head. Petrino's teams are aweful defense's as well, he is an average recruiter and a POS. I agree on Gruden but Strong will kill it at UT. Great hire. Go pull for oak st if you love Gundy so much.

What has Gundy ever done outside of one year with Weeden and Blackmon?? Petrino is a clown and an asshat that we don't want, and Gruden doesn't want us so let it go. Strong is just what we need so you can either hop on the wagon or go root for Vandy and their "superstar" coach. The choice is yours and no one cares which you choose.
