Check out how he recruited at Florida before you talk. YOU are the reason Tennessee football is screwed (it's not screwed, but cool story anyways). Big East teams don't stand a prayer in the recruiting scene. Oh, and if he's recruited so poorly then how did he go 10-2? Does that mean he is making bad players better?

To everyone spewing garbage about Strong's recruiting at Florida, he was NOT the HC. Those kids came to play for CUM not Strong. I will gladly eat crow if he proves me wrong but I think we are headed for 3-5 more years of Bama beating our asses.

Oh well since we're playing the fantasy hypothetical situation game, WHAT IF Dooley went 13-0 this year? He'd probably still be here. What if Saban turned into a monk and moved to Tibet? We'd be better off in both cases. Your statement makes no sense at all. Move along.

If Srong is such a good hire, why in the hell are season tickets going for $300 bucks today with zero donation? Guess what....those tickets will still be available next year and the year after and the year after! What a shame!

Strong will be great for UT. Enough about not being able to recruit in this league. He was lights out as an assistant and will be gangbusters as a head coach. Throw in the resources that will be at his disposal at UT along with the new training center and UT could well become the recruiting powerhouse it once was. Did anyone think when Saban got to LSU that he would be able to recruit against Fulmer, Spurrier etc... I bet most didnt and look what happened. Same can be said for Richt when he got to Georgia and Miles when he got to LSU. Strong will be more than fine. He shores up UT's 2 biggest drawbacks this season, defense and recruiting.

there is no faith in tennessee football anymore... give strong a chance.. everyone agreed we needed a coach with sec experience right? the guy can recruit, i mean hell he got 30 some odd kids from florida that are currently on his roster at UL.

Umm ok, how bout blown out by a .500 Syracuse team and beat at home by an awful Uconn team, both of whom had inferior talent.

Is Strong a terrible hire? No. Is Strong going to win a National Championship if he lands at UT? No. He is a pretty solid coach and a pretty solid recruiter. I'm guessing a good year 8-4 coach at UT. May make a run for the East, but not much further. I know my opinion doesn't matter, but they make message boards for retards with opinions, so here it is.

You need to do some research before you throw out stats. Strong's defense was ranked 25th against a SOS of 63 and the only team in the top 30 of total offense lit his ass up for 40+ points. Gundy's D may not be ranked high (81st this season) but Ok St SOS is 11th and they played 3 of the top 10 offenses this season. One more thing Big 12 offenses own Big East offenses.

He turned that dumpster fire of a program into a BCS bowl team. Coaches can only do so much, personally I would take 10-2 all day every day.

Hey another thread that says u r a racist if you have issues with the Strong hire....

(Not like anyone didn't have issues with any of the white coaches being discussed...smh)

I somewhat agree with u OP. Other than I think Peterson and Patterson are 2 guys that could have a track record that would be considered good enough for our program. Briles if he were to bring a good DC but think he is gonna want to job at UTex job once open. Don't care for Gruden at all...could be cause he's white though.

Frankly all now I was a guy that wanted Dooley to succeed cause I didn't see us being in a good position in the hiring carousel. I don't want a guy that people say "give him a chance he might do well". I want a guy who is a sure thing. Otherwise why get rid of a guy that did all the heavy lifting.

For the record I put all blame on Gruden and his lackeys for the situation we are in. With some on Hart for not squashing the Gruden rumors.
