Tennessee Football is screwed

Strong is absolutely a garbage hire for this program and if the pathetic Big East didn't have an automatic BCS bid then Good Time Charlie wouldn't even be sniffing the Sugar Bowl.

Did he bang your sister and mother on consecutive days or something? Why all the hatred bro? He had great defenses at Florida and he has a team right now that would beat ours into the dirt.

Good to know you can tell the future and know more than the Tennessee and Florida (they almost hired Fedora before they went with Muschamp) ADs.

To everyone spewing garbage about Strong's recruiting at Florida, he was NOT the HC. Those kids came to play for CUM not Strong. I will gladly eat crow if he proves me wrong but I think we are headed for 3-5 more years of Bama beating our asses.

Dan Brooks was the reason we were able to routinely sign great players out of the Carolinas during the Fulmer years. If you don't believe Rodney Garner had a tremendous impact on our success in the 1990s recruiting Georgia, then you honestly can't be helped.

The leg-work an assistant puts in during the recruiting process cannot and should not be so easily discounted. Meyer was successful recruiting precisely because he had guys like Mullen and Strong doing the majority of the work and selling his program.

Gruden does NOT want to coach here
Petrino is a Dbag that has left every program hes been at in ruins and would probably get us the death penalty since we ARE on probation
Gundy hasn't been all that impressive. He's had 2 great years in a weak Big 12 and then a bunch of mediocre years when the rest of the Big 12 was better than mediocre.
4-7, 7-6, 7-6, 9-4, 9-4, 11-2, 12-1, 7-5. Yes his last season he was an awesome, can beat anybody including Saban, Miles, Richt, Muschamp and Spurrier 7-5. Kinda seems like he has peaked as a coach. 42, 22, 30, 26, 36, 31, 28, 32 these are his recruiting class rankings starting from 2005 til last year. He has only produced 1 class in the top 25 and even after a season where he lost only 1 game he could only bring in the 32nd ranked class. So if thats the best he can do while at one of the better schools in his conference, I really don't wanna see what he would do when hes one of these worst in his conference.

some of yall have gone full retard. i barley ever post but this one deserves it.

I dont think anyone could be hired to satisfy ya. ALL coaches that win in the SEC were once coaches with no SEC experience. I for one will be rooting for the next hire, no matter who it is, and giving full support to the big orange

I agree they do a lot of the leg work but to give him all the credit is insane. If you believe any different you can't be helped. Oh and one more thing its easier to keep them Florida kids instate then to get them to come to Tennessee.

"IF" Strong beomes our HC, I bet we'll see the best talented class we've had in 5yrs and not ranked below 15th.

yep strong recruiter.

I guess that is why he lied to that 2 star kid to get him to flip to Louisville this week.

there is no faith in tennessee football anymore...

I wonder why? They think we will come to the games like the blind sheep that a lot of UT fans are? Yeah, lets step up and spend the cash on tickets and get excited over this 'top name' coach hire. Sure. Not happening.

Just because a person doesn't support the hire has nothing to do with supporting the team. I think this hire is a mistake but I'll continue to buy season tickets and cheer for the Vols. if I'm wrong then I will gladly say so but until we win a few big games the jury is still out for me.

Speaking of garbage...this thread needs to go in the disposal. So much ass backward reasoning in the OP's posts it's comical.

We all have our opinions. We had them on Majors, Fulmer, Kiffin, and Dooley. We will soon have a Coach and the larger %age of Vol fans won't like the hire. That does not mean we are not Vols. We will support our team, our coaches, and hope the new hire pleases the ones that were for his hire, but pleases those who were not as well. Go Vols!!!!!

Strong wouldn't be my 1st choice, but I will get on board if he is announced. I think his recruiting success will be highly dependent on who he brings with him for his staff. I do believe Strong can recruit the Southeast well for us with the right assistants and position coaches as long as he makes this part of his job a bigger priority than Dooley apparently did.

I do not like hearing about how much better of a hire Arkansas made compared to UT if we do bring in Strong from the talking heads in the media though. The guys on 560 AM in Memphis this afternoon were fawning over AR hiring the Wisconsin coach (don't want to butcher the man's name by trying to spell it).

Whoever the hire is, bring 'em on and go Vols!

No, Petrino's former employee chick is screwed...Gundy was a man, once, 5 years ago...Gruden is a high dollar talking head.

I'll take Coach Charlie Strong any day over this list. GBO!
