Tennessee has yet to win anything realistically

It’s nice to finally beat Bama but we take our focus off the wheel we will be in the ditch. One game at a time as we are winless the way I see it . True…

I disagree. We haven’t won the East, or the SEC, or the National Championship but those are hardly everything worth winning this season. We have won several hard games against solid opposition, won the respect and acknowledgment of our rising status as a program by the larger college football world, and done so in exciting fashion.

I fully expect the impact on recruiting from our performance this year to pay big dividends much quicker than I would’ve guessed when Heupel was first hired. We could drop Georgia, Kentucky, and even something like South Carolina and it would definitely be a disappointment but the season would not have been a total failure or anything close or it (it depends somewhat on how those games look of course.)

I do agree with the one game at a time approach, but it’s also important to recognize the positives as they come. You can do that and still understand that we while we have achieved a lot, we still aren’t where we want to be long term and approach the games appropriately.

Are you not watching this team? We just beat Alabama, won on the road at LSU, won at Pitt, and beat our nemesis Florida. We have more Top 25 wins than anyone in the country. When’s the last time we were 6-0 and ranked 3rd?

The team or fans are not overlooking Kentucky. We have UT Martin this week, we can celebrate this win for a week.

If Heupel can get UK and UGA then he needs a street named after him. That would be at least 6 wins against ranked teams. It has been quite a while since that was done. Also beating the big 3 plus LSU in one season... would be downright incredible. That's especially true since it is only his 2nd year.

Only a street?? How about rename Knoxville to Heupelville, Tennessee

Go VOLS

Fans can overlook whatever they want to. Matters not

That's a miserable way to go through life as a fan. It's a mindset that never lets you enjoy the moment. "One game at a time" isn't a burden a fan has to carry.
“One game at a time” is a perfectly valid mindset PROVIDED you take time to stop and be thankful and enjoy the wins as they come. Live in the moment. Granted, this doesn’t come naturally to a Tennessee fan (myself included) considering the heavy burden of disappointment we have had to bear for such a long time. I am not letting apprehension cloud my joy in the best season I can remember since a time when a coach named Phil roamed the sidelines.
Don’t lose your present joy fretting something over which you have no control
Go Vols
Get er done Heup!

Nitpicking you maybe. But do you really think it matters if you and I personally take our "focus off the wheel"? Or were you referring to the team... which has shown no indications of focusing on anything except being better than they were the day/week/month before and the next opponent?

SJT thanks for bringing the adult (mos realist) response to the OP mostly ridiculous assertion. If OP can't see that even after the Bama "scoop and score" as well with the absolute refusal to "settle for overtime" mentality most coaches would have called for tied with 15 seconds left then we have to ask what is the angle here? Because not only are there hands FIRMLY on the wheel the foot is FIRMLY on the gas and the rearview mirror is of ZERO concern.

6-0 and knocked down PiTT, Florida and Bama so far means everything to getting this program back to the top…It’s the start we needed and above expectations that anyone outside the locker room thought was possible.

We won't prove our worth until we beat Pitt.

We won't prove our worth until we beat Florida.

We won't prove our worth until we beat LSU.

We won't prove our worth until we beat Bama.

Hmmm...

Dude can't you just enjoy the ride? True, this has added nothing to the trophy case but to deny the joy of being 6-0 with victories over Florida, LSU, and Alabama and being ranked 3rd in the country is just asinine. There's no virtue in being contrarian.
