Tennessee Lady Vol News

So current bracketology on ESPN has us a 3 seed with a looming 3-6 battle with Iowa. I think that would be a horrid 2nd round draw. A power shooter like Clark would shred us I feel like.

I’m not so sure. Iowa is a bad defensive team (143rd per Massey) and wouldn’t really force turnovers. I think between our rebounding and athleticism and their lack of defense, we’d be fine, especially at home.

If we finish second in the league I still think we could steal at 1 seed. The SEC has been the toughest league all season. No reason the ACC should get two teams in rather than the SEC.
I'm assuming you have Tenn winning the SEC tournament in addition to finishing 2nd place. The remaining schedule of the ACC contenders for #1 seed. One of them is at least going have a loss in the ACC tournament.

NC. State- Miami, Syracuse, @Virginia Tech
Louisville- @ UNC, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, @ Notre Dame.

I think at his point the LV would need to win out to nab a One Seed, Regular season and SECT

Plus, last night Maryland just showed us how to defeat Clark/Iowa-great defense and someone was always on Clark.

Maryland is one of probably a select few teams that could pull off that defensive scheme because of their size, length and agility. They did a great job of making sure that anyone but Katie Benzan got matched with Clark and had about 3-4 players on the court at anytime that could switch on her with the same degree of effectiveness. Even then, she hit some incredible shots. She had a 30 ft shot at the end of the 3rd quarter with Miller, Reese and Bibby all descending on her. I think she was just worn down by the 4th quarter. They made her work really hard on every possession.

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough is how good of a passer Clark is. Her lob feeds to Czanino were executed over and over to perfection: a nice rainbow lob that was just high enough to stay out of Reese's hands, but dropping right to Czanino right under the basket. No wonder her FG% is off the charts if she's getting those kinds of feeds all game long.

Not necessarily. I think if we make it to the title game and lose we could still get a 1 depending on what happens in the ACC. I don’t think NC State or Louisville are as tough as advertised. If one of them loses early in their tournament I don’t see them getting two one seeds. Especially if either team drops a game down the stretch which is pretty likely IMO.

In the ACC there are 6 competitive teams and then it drops off significantly after that. In the SEC there are 10 competitive teams on any given night and 9 that will likely make the tournament. I don’t think that can be overlooked.

Yes, Maryland was big and “aggressive”, especially Reese, and it didn’t hurt that they made 9 3’s.

Up to eighth in the Coaches Poll.

That’s about where I’d expect tbh… even if we were to lose to SC and win out and have a good showing in the tourney we should be a 2 seed… at worst we are the 2nd 3 seed(Number 10 in country) but I’m thinking if we lose to SC we’ll be punished and end up a 4 seed no matter what happens afterward just due to what seems to be a disdain for the program returning to prominence.

I can also see that happening. If we beat SC, which seems unlikely but possible, we will not be rewarded either. I think even if we win out, a #2 seed is the ceiling, while if we lose 2 more games, we could even fall out of the top 16. Meanwhile, other teams who have nothing but cupcake wins and few or no significant Top 25 wins will be seeded above us (see UNC, or several of the Big 12 teams).

It's all about match ups... i don't mind a number 2 or 3 seed if the match ups r favorable. There are a couple of teams i wouldn't mind facing as a two or 3 seed who are ranked above us because of schedules.

Clarke leads NCAA in assists no?

Come on, if UT wins out (prob means beating #1twice) they are a 1 or 2 seed, no conspiracy against LV’s.

no conspiracy against LV’s.
The hell you say! Everything is a conspiracy against Tennessee!

My question is why? What happened to make every ref, every pollster, ESPN, and the entire NCAA Tourney Selection Committee (just to name a few) all hate us and risk their jobs just to cheat us? I've always wondered.

Missed the blue font there

Can I just send the girls some money instead? I've already got two, and one more coming. I want to support the kids, but my t-shirt situation is getting waaaaay out of hand this year. 😂
Hey go ahead and buy them and then donate them to the Boy's and Girl's Club. They can give them as awards, incentives, etc. plus build LV support.
