The recruits saw the talent level here when they visited.....They saw the gunners bombing 3's at practice, they saw the penetrators attacking the rim, they saw Coach Kellie and "her Hellions" were coming for the crown...If you're not woman enough to kick some ass, just move on...

We want "Hellions" wearing Lady Vol colors....Kellies time is at hand.

I agree with this 100%. I even remember Kellie saying at one point they could afford to be more selective at this time, so I'm sure she was well aware they could strike out, especially with the talent that is currently on the roster. I have no doubt she has a Plan B, C, D, etc.

In this new recruiting era you have to go for the top 25 high school players win or lose because you can still get players in the portal of that ability or at least of the ability of the high school players rated lower than that. We struck out to this point see what the portal brings we have to definitely replace at least two of Jackson, Horston, and Key. We may already have a couple of those players on the roster by next season, but it is better to go ahead and try to sign the best players in the portal again this year.

I agree with this... But i also could see us hitting some snags along the way trying to figure out best combinations and the team trying to gel against stiffer competition. Is this team going to be good ... VERY GOOD. But it might some time to take that next step passed that.

Ohio St will probably give us some fits but I think this teams defense will show up and help them prevail.

One thing I am certain of is that TN will be a force (barring injuries/illness) come late march/april.

I think Massey's data is based on last season at this point. I think their predictions are all calculated based on stats, and since there are none yet for this year, the Massey ratings and matchup predictions aren't going to make much sense for the first few games.

I don’t think you understand the new recruiting landscape. It doesn’t stop. Miss on high schoolers? Who cares. There are already talented players hitting the portal. It’s no longer a “recruiting class” it’s just recruiting. Much more like free agency and trades with the pros. It’s about building the best team every year now.


Thankfully we have a great coach and a great culture. Glad our staff aren’t willing to compromise that to pay for unproven high school recruits. Our money was well spent on Rickea and Jasmine Powell….

The distressing part is it's now a pattern, not an aberration. The only thing that changes are the lame excuses to rationalize it every failed recruiting cycle...

leave post up opportunities and driving lanes open

Paying attention to Massey is like paying attention to political polls, the game is played on the floor and not on predictions. I believe that the Lady Vols are better than Massey predicts. Will Ohio State be an early test, of course they will, but it will give our ladies a chance to show what they are made of. Key will have to be tough in the middle and Horston and Jackson will have to play within themselves. Jasmine Powell will prove that she is the point guard we have been looking for. I believe that Jasmine Walker is a much better two guard than a point guard. Our bench is loaded with strength, power and scoring capability. I don’t believe we saw anything that our defense is capable of during the C-N exhibition. I believe it will be on full display against Ohio State. I respect the fact that KJH is willing to put the team up against a top team right off the bat instead of a bunch of cupcakes. Go Lady Vols!!!

We could definitely lose the game it is a very tough place to play. I think they will have to score 80 to beat us though. I wasn't at all impressed with our defense in the exhibition game. The offense was very impressive. Horston and Jackson scored 31 points in 29 minutes of play. If they continue that pace you can see how many they could score in a game in normal minutes and they really don't have to do that well. Maybe 40 as a duo per game then you depend on the other players to get you another 40 and that seems quite possible from what I saw. I certainly don't think 12 threes will be our norm, but I can see us going for 7 or 8 a game everytime we take the floor this season.

Volfan, I don't know if you watched/read post-game comments, but Kellie led with a comment about [not being happy with] the defense. I blamed it on two things:first game jitters, and our longtime bugaboo of sometimes playing down to smaller players. I'm guessing we'll see better D next week. Can't wait!

I noticed we definitely continue to socially distance from smallish players shooting the 3, even after they show they can hit them. Hopefully there's more in the D bucket they just weren't ready to roll out yet. All the tools will be needed in Columbus.
