Tennessee Lady Vol News

Agree MUST is a big word but she looks like she’s prepped to have a good one which means really good stuff for us. If she shoot’s like she did with confidence all year…watch out. That goes for all our SHOOTERS.

Also I’m very excited to hear Coach Joy talk about TK being pushed to take a step forward in defense and offense. Being more mobile defensively and offensively being more aggressive in getting the ball. Really excited to see what she does next week and all year.
I couldn't watch the actual game, but in the clips vid that Maria posted, I could've sworn I saw TK with a pro-level post move that I've never seen from her before. Her footwork on that play was beautiful.

One of my many favorite clips was Jasmine Powell dropping the most beautiful dime down to TK in the post. The speed with which she made the decision was 🤌 magnifique!

Flo Sports is charging 29.99 for the tourney Tennessee plays in November 19th and 20th. Looks like if we make it to the title game it will be on one of the ESPN stations. I'm still debating if I will join and watch the games on those days. I would easily if Flo Sports video was as good as the usual sources, but last year it was something of a train wreck in quality doubt if it has improved this year.

TK will be a big benefactor this year from the new talent, she will find more room offensively down low now, her defense already speaks for itself outside of foul issues. Her numbers should increase across the board and if she has learned a new gear in controlled aggressiveness she will have a great season.

Agree. Opponents will now have to guard the perimeter, rather than packing the paint and daring the LVs to hit outside shots. TK is a worker. She took a big step forward in her offensive game last season and I expect another jump this season.

The third shot is the only one I could see clearly and while it's not a Chris Lofton release, it looks fine to me.

She has shoulder level release, quite apparent in the twitter clip earlier in the thread. The only problem is that a lower release point makes the shot easier to block or disrupt but lots of players in the women's game have a similar shot. As I said, her height makes it less of an issue than if she was a 5'6 player.

Sorry I'm just not seeing what you're seeing.

She could shoot from her knees and it will go in....Her range is unlimited....Just wait to her and Buckets start banging 3 balls together.....Our opponents won't know what to do....

Buckle up guys because the Lady Vols are about to take off...

She looks ready. Already seems clutch. Don’t hate on this question, but does her “windup” on the 3 look long? Just asking, don’t want to imply negativity here and not meant as such, just an observation, am sure it’s no issue with her past success but it’s there so I asked. Shot gets off pretty low, but she gets it off so prob no issue. Lord knows that question is going to deliver a hailstorm, it’s just an observation. There have been greats with long releases from lower points before.

Edit: just read some of the posts above reference same. Am sure Coach Jumper could “jump in” with a thought, am also sure it’s a nonissue. Would be ideal at 6’3” to have a quick and high release but they all do it differently.

looks like she gathers at the shoulder and release is fine. full extension and follow through. I think she starts her shot slow which she will learn to be quicker into the shot. She's a killer if she gets space. I imagine most of this year she will be a drive and dish target on the 3 point line.

Probably right there, against intense defenses which she will face, she will have to elevate that release spot perhaps but like someone else said, don’t mess with it until or unless needed.
She is a phenom right now, let it play out. If adjustments needed am sure she is up for that. Great looking player in the scrimmage, full of confidence which needs to be fueled, keep the confidence high for the young players…

Rivers lost her confidence last year at SC for whatever reasons, and she shot horribly all year after a HS career of being a great shooter. Environment was not best for her personally, nobody knows why, so she transferred to NCSU, wish her the best, great talent. The point is that you have to encourage and help the confidence of these players sometimes. For whatever reason(s), Rivers lost all confidence in her shot last year. Hoping she gets it back, what a talent. Her release was always high and clean, she just struggled shooting on that team last year, I don’t know the reason.

Let Justine do her thing and feed her confidence, if adjustments needed, she will figure it out. Looks like a great player already and those types fix things on their own without someone trying to fix them and ruining their confidence.

The shot should rise as she gets stronger. Give her a year. Also, she is not going to ever have the top defensive person from the other team on her with the talent that is around her. She is shooting it 2-3 feet behind the 3 point line. How many defenders will come out that far to defend especially if there is a Rickea Jackson, Jordan Horston, and Tamari Key on the floor not to mention what Powell showed with her ability to get into the teeth of the defense and pull the defense in. Justine will be just fine as will Tess and Sara. They should get a lot of pretty open shots this season. Drive and Kick. Eazy Breezy.
