Tennessee Lady Vol News

You know that’s not true. No need to keep painting Kellie in a negative light.
Actually I’m going to edit my response. You ended with a quest mark not a period so I think you were questioning the poster not agreeing with them.
As the bear said:
Let’s eat kids.
Let’s eat, kids.
Punctuation matters!
Lucy hit herself with a reverse UNO card.

This is one of the more insightful things I’ve seen. Seems like Talaysia is gonna be big for us next year. Ty for sharing!
Excellent article. In the long run, her success will not only be how she recruits and relates, but also how she learns and adapts. That is what makes a great coach. I get a sense that this will be her strength: That she will adapt the system to fit her players and then modify more as she learns on what works in the SEC. She seems flexible and open rather than egotistical about how great her system is. It is not fluke that she won a conference title every year she has ever been a head coach except one 2nd place finish. I think we have a creative and sharp tactician, one that is ahead of the curve. This is what gives me the biggest hope that she will be the right coach for the LVs.

I agree 100%, LV renaissance.

Did I miss something or is a certain high volume, high energy, shape/name shifting poster strangely missing over recent days?
I, just a week or so ago, told them they needed to take some deep breathes and get out in the sunshine more but I didn’t think they would take me seriously. I kinda feel bad.
Hopefully a equally enthusiastic but less caffeinated version will reappear!

Yeah that interview was 40 kinds of reassuring. Reality has definitely entered the conversation. She's a great interview, a genuine combo of appropriate awe and pinch myself wonderment, yet confident optimism in her own ability. She could be a really good breath of fresh air the program needs, a voyage of discovery for her and the program.

She said everything many of us said from the beginning and got blasted for as 'negavols'. The "system' is a basic philosophy, not biblical cannon. We will need "significantly better" 3 pt shooting for any of it to work. Which is why not getting Nye still stings, and why I think Sara is going to have a much bigger role than people think. Also, and best IMO, the 3-4 minute hockey subbing is not happening. I'm sure she learned quickly that will not fly w elite players.

When she was talking about Coop it occurred to me she's probably never seen athletes like that except on tv, much less coach them. Doesn't mean she can't coach them and I'm sure she sees it as the chance of a lifetime.

Basically she reanswered John Adams' infamous presser question only this time honestly. Of course back then they were PR hyping/lying about everything like "no two three four year plan". Which clearly there will be, as she acknowledged the gaunlet the SEC is now going to be. She seems too honest and too grounded in reality to keep up the BS which I really appreciate. Really hope it all works out for her.

That was a great follow up timeline style article. I have nothing but faith in our new coach and the program.

What???? No Championship first year?

people overreact to every interview that has been given by the coach/AD.
To be fair, that wasn't any old interview. It was the introductary press conference where the AD laid the foundation and expectations for the hire. He used the occassion to PR some BS. But most think that was fine and what they all do so we move on. My worry was always that in case anyone actually did believe him, he was setting expectations unfairly high for her first year.

is it?
A parent of a highly ranked HS player wrote this to me recently:

""And on the NIL side, ______ didn’t ask about it the first go round and has never asked any of the above coaches about NIL this time through. She wants a deep relationship with the staffs and to be an impact player in a winning program. If money comes then great, but that is far down the list of what _______ is looking for.""

Kentucky men's program tried to win championships through the portal and now it is 13 years since they have won a Natty....SoCar, ND, the Connies all recruit the top HS picks and look at where they are year after year

Yes, the game has changed,,,but the player/coach-org relationships are still preeminent in decisions made by the HS recruits that really make a difference...It is when they don't find what my above parent wrote that they end up in the portal most of the time

Yes basketball has changed,,,but I live by a couple of self-quotes....:

"Be not the first to decide, nor the last to abide"
and
"Don't grow the game,,grow with the game"
why in the hell are you talking to this players.. Who the hell are you?? Speak up.. Are you a high school? Are you AAU Coach? are you a wanna be coach? Whats your name?

The expectations for Kellies first year was a 7th-place finish in the SEC and possibly of missing their first NCAA tournament by the talking heads and coaches polling as well as those on the outside looking in. They ended up finishing 3rd and would have been a fairly high seed in the NCAA tournament had it not been canceled. I don't know how the expectations could be different for our new head coach. We have 3 high Mcdonalds All-Americans, many all-conference performers from multiple leagues and it is full of upper-class players. I am not sure what you are considering unfairly high, but anything lower than 4th or 5th is a fail and missing the tournament would be a complete disaster.

My expectations are a notch lower, given the power at the top of the SEC. 5th - 7th is more what I predict, and I think that will be good enough to make the tourney. SEC will be so strong they might get 8ish teams in.
