Tennessee Lady Vol News

Here comes the catastrophizing. I’d recommend holding out on the “we’re gonna have a cupcake schedule like LSU” takes till it’s finalized. Maybe CKC feels like we don’t have to travel that far to play a quality opponent. Idk.

Florida State, UConn and Iowa is not a terrible OOC schedule for a first year coach implementing a new system with a lot of new pieces. ND is also a possibility.

And yes, we did have the No. 1 strength of schedule the past two years, but how how many of those (big) games did we win?

Agree. If we've learned anything the last couple of yrs it's that a killer early sched hurts more than helps in the long run. I'm still waiting for the late season payoffs we were supposed to get in those years. With so much new, so many questions, and the SEC in mega killer mode, Fla St, Iowa, and UConn is fine. Lighten anywhere possible.

Bye-bye higher NCAA tournament seeds based on on a top 5 strength of schedule...
The SEC should be much higher rated as a conference next year, which will help everyone's strength of schedule. Besides, we are much more likely to upset a rated team later in the year than pre-conference as by conference time all the players will be more experienced in playing in a new system and meshing together.

😂😂

I try not to waste my energy responding to takes like this, but here we are.

Even though the committee did us a solid the last two tournaments, I’m not proud of receiving a 4 and 6 seed - ESPECIALLY with two 1st round draft pics on the roster in 2023, and a lottery pick in 2024.

The committee did us a solid because we scheduled tough, but we didn’t actually WIN big. With a few more wins we get a higher seed, we have a better chance at an E8, and Kellie more than likely keeps her job.

Without Rickea Jackson missing most of the pre-conference schedule, we would have gotten the higher seed last season. We were a 6 seed last year, that drew an under-seeded 3 seed that wound up in the Final Four after we pushed them to the end of the game on their home floor.

The previous season we lost to Virginia Tech, another Final Four team, in the Sweet Sixteen without Tamari Key, who had neutralized their star center Elizabeth Kitley her sophomore year. Virginia Tech, you may remember, beat our current coach's team in the NCAA first round by FORTY-TWO POINTS, without an injured Elizabeth Kitley.

Bye, Earl. If ruminating on the past works for you, great. Coach KIM CALDWELL is now our head coach and there’s nothing you can do about it :)

What is funny is Colorado is going to suck this year. So we didn’t cancel this because it was going to be tough game.

They lost pretty much every key player and did not meet their needs in the portal or from HS recruiting.

Won’t be shocked if we actually add a better or equal opponent. They are also going to be in the Big 12 which is a total toss up as far as how it will be ranked. So many new teams in that conference it’s hard to tell if it’s a P5 a more like a mega-mid-major.

BINGO! I wouldn’t mind CKC replacing CU with a team like Iowa St, Creighton, Gonzaga or Drake. We need a team that’s gonna test our defense and CU is not it.

Pretty obvious that DW did not like the risk reward associated with this game. Bet he had a plan before he signed that check.

Let’s see what schedule adjustments are finalized before lining up on the bridge edge after projecting tournament chances in June.

The Goal Post continues to move! Let's see who we schedule in place of Colorado a team who didn't have anyone worthy of us losing to this coming season. Hope it's with a better team and not some first or 2nd year Division I team that we can put up 120 points on!

If anything, honor the commitment, we agreed to a 1 and 1, they came here and played us, it was our time to go play them and we took our ball and went home. That's never been our way of doing things and it shouldn't be now.

We also won't know what game it was replaced with, I wonder if we are trying to get out of the MTSU and Memphis games also?

“Without Rickea” is the theme. And you wonder why Kellie was fired. No need to zig zag your thought process of Kellie. Her decisions with 1.1 seconds left, with RJ and Tamara in the game cost them a SECT Championship. As you said, you were too busy hugging players parents.

That's my thing - we have no idea why they cancelled. People seem to immediately assume cancelling can only be about being afraid to play them. Maybe the only time the game could be played was the very beginning of the season when KC has openly stated her teams are never at their best, or maybe it is a bunch of factors that we don't know about. One thing that I doubt is that this season's tournament seeding hangs in the balance over playing or not playing a depleted Colorado team. Come on now...

Your correct but the Kellie butthurt posters are always looking for anything to put a negative spin on it. They will be out in force when KC loses her first game, count on it.

It’s also comical because he brought up NCAA seeding when we were in real danger of not making the tournament most of last season.

Didn’t host, and lost out early. Made excuses about us having to play such good teams early in the tournament.

Well no freaking duh, that’s what happens when you’re a lower seed 🤦🏼‍♂️

All Kellie had to do was be better than Holly.

In retrospect Holly was actually better coach and recruiter. She was just a terrible locker room manager. Too many interpersonal player issues in the locker room was her downfall.

Kellie managed the locker room well but just isn’t that great a coach and definitely could not recruit.

Probably another home game to replace this road game.

Which is WAY smarter. If you know you have a big advantage playing at home you need to take it any chance you get.

I still cringe about that Ohio State game two years ago. I’ll never understand who approved that. One of the dumbest scheduling moves I’ve ever seen in WCBB. Wonderful for your team’s confidence to start the season on the road against a team that presses 40 minutes and turn the ball over 29 times.

Pretty much stamped the identity for that team for the rest of the entire season.

It's called a coach allowing one of their star players (Jordan Horston) to have a home game in front of her family and friends. Some coaches actually genuinely care about their players and not just view them as athletes. This has been a Tennessee tradition, Geno, Dawn, and several other do this as well.
