I say 1-4. And to think, before conference I thought we’d “mow” through it.
Due to the emotional distress we’ve gone through for the past decade, I’ve been able to handle losing a little better lately. The future being bright helps me alot! I just hate how we’ve been a couple of points, better quarters, and box outs away from being in the top 3 by now!

Or, way more likely, they don't yet have the skill to do those things consistently and/or the staff hasn't effectively taught a young and new team how to achieve those things consistently against the top competition. We are at that all too familiar point in the season where the team & staff know what is holding us back and we get to wait patiently each game to see if they learned the lesson or just didn’t feel like playing today.
I guarantee folks that nobody on this team, nor any of the last decade of harder times, are deciding they just "don't feel like playing today."Same, 1-4. Our half court defense and defensive rebounding need improvement for us to beat the top teams.

or they are simply "negavols" and cannot see anything good re OUR! teamI guarantee folks that nobody on this team, nor any of the last decade of harder times, are deciding they just "don't feel like playing today."
Most of these players have aspirations to play pro ball or be coaches someday. Does anyone truly believe these players are making conscious decisions to simply not want to play their best on any given day? Does anyone truly believe they are simply deciding they don't care whether they win or lose or have to bear the pain of facing the hateful public after each loss, and possibly looking bad to pro scouts who dot these games?
If anyone truly believes any of that they are way out in left field. They may care TOO MUCH, which can be paralyzing, but NEVER too little.
But seriously, it’s basketball, how hard is it to teach to box out and rebound?!Or, way more likely, they don't yet have the skill to do those things consistently and/or the staff hasn't effectively taught a young and new team how to achieve those things consistently against the top competition.
Albert Einstein could teach me Calculus and I still couldn't work a problem. There's a talent and experience element. Another major part of the problem last night is that Texas is huge in the post and we are not.But seriously, it’s basketball, how hard is it to teach to box out and rebound?!This team is new, not basketball as a sport, which they’ve been playing for yearsssss!
I was just going to say the officiating determins how aggressive you can play. When you are getting touch fouls called against your team you play a little slower to try to stay out of foul trouble. It does get into your head. We are getting the short end on the officiating. When we start making runs the refs start blowing the whistle. The Jones girl for Texas should have fouled out in the second quarter last night if the refs had called and unbiased game.Gotta think of this game in the context of how the entire contest was officiated. It seemed for long stretches that a foul was called every time we went on defense, which naturally created, I'm sure, a team-wide hesitancy. It wore ME out mentally just watching it, so I can't imagine how much that altered the players' actions and instincts. You could see them taking a couple extra beats -- often waiting too late -- whike they weighed the risks.
A game called like that can be crippling, which is why I'm impressed as hell that Tennessee kept it so close DESPITE that game-long handicap.

I've always said that "basketball is a simple game that is very hard to become great at"Albert Einstein could teach me Calculus and I still couldn't work a problem. Working the refs properly determines more than you give it credit for...By properly working the refs you can change the way the game is officiated and the directionof the calls. Very few coaches have mastered this though.I was just going to say the officiating determines how aggressive you can play. I’ll take that because we can beat her the next few years
