Tennessee - Memphis cancelled

Harbor Town, Midtown, Chickasaw Gardens, Galloway Gardens, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Arlington, Lakeland...I guess those are just miles and miles of 'slums' lol
And I live in one of those and I can vouch that all of those are pretty dang nice. And let’s add the Shady Grove Road area as well. However let’s not act like Memphis overall is a garden spot. Article last week said Memphis is now the #1 most dangerous city in the country. And when I watch the news every night, I can’t argue with it.

My post had nothing to do with partying the night before. They could have been breaking team rules/covid protocols 5 to 7 days prior to yesterday. The question is why did they test positive on Saturday morning?
Article said one of them woke up with symptoms

Fine… Belle Meade, West Meade, Forrest Hills, Oak Hill, Brentwood, and Franklin all more impressive than Germantown. That help?

Those are all fine places…just stayed in Franklin Friday night for the game. But the most recent data has a Germantown zip code as the third wealthiest. It’s also one of the safest in the state along with one of the best school districts. It’s ignorant to just pass it off as part of Memphis. There are a lot of wealthy and loyal UT fans in the area.

Mempho? Good nickname. Also if you just mentioned Regional One you have just lost…surprised you didn’t brag about your Ikea…

you can make bank at regional one...they'll work your ass off and you work with the dregs of society but hey, as long as the check clears.

the IKEA has yet to meet the pay per employee the city asked for to get it's PILOT tax break.

I tell you what you try walking and biking to and from those areas you mentioned. Harbor town is cute btw…

Urban Flight into one suburb does not save a trash county… sorry

I have a theory that you’ll reach that conclusion about whichever city you live in if you pay attention to the local news.

I'm not. plenty of parts of town you won't find me in normally...Frayser, Orange Mound, Hickory Hill, along with wide swaths of Raleigh/Whitehaven (but they still have a couple decent areas)

It’s always a dumb notion because there are many, many UT alums and fans in the county.

Belle Meade itself is 3 square miles. The one in Germantown has 16,000 people.

38139, 38138, 38017, and I’d even say 38120 are all affluent wealthy zip codes in our county and likely top 10.

They don’t have Meth in Memphis?
Not next door to me they don’t. Seriously all I’m saying is that no county is without its dangers these days. Did some missionary work renovating houses in rural East Tennessee and we were told to mind our own business if we saw odd things at nearby houses and be careful whose door you knocked on.

I rarely go downtown anymore and wouldn’t go to Beale Street if you paid me.

I had not been down that way to visit Crosstown Concourse or Beale since pre-COVID so I went before zoo lights and it was amazing...

Not at all. I grew up here and raise my family here. Doing ok, thanks.
I’m just messing with you man. I lived in Memphis for 4 years. Enjoyed my time there but my strong preference is for Nashville and the mid state (and I say that as a native East Tennessean). Just fed up with that community college you got their in your neighborhood…

Lest we get really off track, back to my original post. Is my math off or did 1 Cent just get caught lying again about their “90% vaccination rate”? If you can get it, pull up Geoff Calkins’ article today from the Daily Memphian. He just lit 1 Cent up like a Christmas tree. Said this is all on Memphis and 1 Cent’s dereliction of responsibility as a coach.

Now I have been to Crosstown and it’s cool. A couple of pretty good places to eat. But I’m still really careful.

It’s fine. I just get frustrated because there are a lot of good Vols here. Nashville is too big for me.

I got my law degree from Memphis, but I root for UT over them.

“Misspeaking” is the euphemism he seems to have settled on.
