Tennessee @ Mississippi State (October 13, 2012)

Jimmy Johns is playing semi-pro football right now. If the fact that the dude wasn't eligible before couldn't sink in, not sure if this one will either.

He. Will. Not. Play. In. College. Again. End of story.

And there's nothing weird about a stadium that struggles to fill its 50,000 seat capacity, but has a jumbotron you can see from space?

You know what also looks weird on TV? An SEC team visiting a Sun Belt opponent. Your program is pathetic, and an embarrassment to an otherwise proud conference.

I thought you were joking about MSU playing on the road against a Sun Belt opponent until I checked the MSU Athletics website.

I heard MSU asked for it to be on the road. Didn't want the hassle of putting the goal posts back up if they win.

In the last 5 years, Miss St has played @ Tulane, @ La Tech, @ MTSU, @ Houston, @ UAB and @ Tiger High.

No one can say that Miss St won't play anyone, anywhere!

It actually makes you question your association with them, doesn't it?

And this is the second time they've done it.

Again, it's a 2 for 1 with Troy. They come to Starkville in 2013 and 2015. It's our preferred scheduling method and will continue to be until the program becomes sustainable on a higher level, at which point we'll consider doing home/home series with BCS-level opponents. We won't pay for an 8th home game at this point, when we can get 2 for 1s for free.

So, get ready. We will be @ UAB next year, @ South Alabama in 2014, @ USM in 2015, and @ La Tech in 2016.

Our previous OOC scheduling was a nightmare. We played bigtime teams every year, and it kept us home a bunch of times in bowl season. What does our program have to show for that? NOTHING. Helped us in NO way. In the recent past, our OOC:

@Houston, Ga Tech, Houston, @ Ga Tech, @ West Virginia, West Virginia, Oregon, @ Oregon, BYU, @ BYU, OK St, @ OK St, @ Baylor, Texas, @ Texas

I can understand building a program may require a few trips to some midlevel C-USA schools, but no disrespect but really South Alabama? Thats a disgrace to MSU to make them play at a school thats only been D1 for 2 years at the time.

Au contraire, Pierre - Missy State has the biggest... errr second biggest ... or once upon a time the biggest jumbotron in the universe!

Notice how all the Tennesee fans have failed to mention the size of their jumbotron compared to State's. Jealousy, it happens.

Please don't lump me in with the guy talking "jumbotron smack"... Not my goal here at all. :banghead2:

I can understand where this is coming from, and I agree in principal honestly. I believe the reasoning has alot to do with how hard we are currently recruiting and intend to recruit the Mobile area. It's alot like south MS in that the players there often don't have strong devotion to the state schools because they are 5+ hours away. There is as much highschool talent in Mobile alone as there is in the entire state of Ms south of Hattiesburg.

South Alabama will host us in 2014, NC State in 2015, and OK State in 2017. There's got to be a reason all these schools are willing to play there, and it has to do with recruiting IMO...

I like having an all-time winning percentage well above .500 a whole lot.

Mississippi State will always be as irrelevant as BC's acting career.

 This is the perfect response! :lolabove:

Can we go back to talking football now?

Dude, you're just scared to talk smack. We are currently a lot better than Tennessee which doesn't happen that much so we as State fans need to let them know who is boss while we can.

Apparently it happens so rarely that MSU fans are willing to consider one win per year as "a lot better".

Both teams' cumulative record over the past three years:

MSU: 21-17
UT: 18-20

If that's "a lot better", then Alabama is so exponentially better than MSU that the bullies should be considered little more than cannon fodder.
