Tennessee Softball 2023

Does anyone here know why Vanderbilt doesn't have a softball team, sarcasm not needed just inquiring

Vanderbilt does not have the on-campus space to build a softball facility. If they had a program, they would have to play somewhere off-campus, and are apparently not willing to do that.

They are adding volleyball in two years, they have been heavily pressured to add a softball program. I anticipate it will happen at some point, but it is still five years away or more.

…skeered.

SIAP .... Play begins Friday w/the LVs facing Northern Kentucky at 5:30 ET.

Is Karen going to throw Pickens to the wayside and just throw Gottshall and Rogers or is she going to let Pickens pitch Friday against N. Kentucky and let her build her confidence back up. We're going to need all three the rest of the way if we want to advance to the World Series.

In a perfect world, yes, you go with Pickens to start, but with a short leash.

But, in reality, it is a risky move for a coach. What if you get a repeat Bama performance and you lose to NoKy and then lose the regional? The mob would be out with the pitchforks.

I'm guessing Karen will throw Pickens Friday, but she's likely to be on a short leash. Everyone should know pretty quickly where Pickens is mentally, and I am really hoping she does come out strong. I mean, if she's gonna need solid innings to get her groove back, this would be the game to do it.

Overall our region is tough but was happy to see no Baylor, etc. Our offense seemed to be coming around again in the tournament so hopefully we can make it out of our region no problem. Alabama was a complete joke but like that we face them in a potential WCWS matchup as others stated. I also favor NW chances against Alabama. When we played NW earlier this year we didn’t even see Williams. Last year NW went to Tempe and Williams pitched in all three games and they went to OKC. I’m thinking they will do it again and I’d rather face a Texas staff than a lefty with one of the best change ups in the country. We all know how our lineup does against the spinny left hander.

I would start Pickens against Northern Kentucky. She can handle it easily. Their leading home run hitter has four (4) homers. Then start Rogers in game two, followed by Gottshall. That should wrap it up, but the whole staff is available if another game is needed. Somebody said IU is Florida, which is sort of true, except IU has no Skyler Wallace to throw a monkey wrench into the works. Looking forward to multiple Boo Bombs, Zaida Zingers, and Kiki Klouts, and a good time shall be had by all :D
