Sharing my ESPN+ experience in hopes it helps others connect before Friday.
I started ESPN+ before the pandemic ( like 9-11 the pandemic has become a new reference point). I believe when I started the service it was $3.99 per month. The price has increased every year. First it was $4.99 then last year $5.99 per month. I don't watch plus that much, so, have considered dropping it which you can do after paying for 1 month ( I believe). The only sports I watch on plus is Tennessee related sports. I don't live in Tennessee and my provider is COX.
This year I received an email from ESPN's parent company Disney. I was informed that ESPN+ was going to $9.99 a month unless I subscribed to the Disney plus bundle which includes Hulu and Disney and ESPN+. So, now I pay $13.99 per month for Hulu and Disney while ESPN+ remains at $5.99.
I still have problems with COX Communications (since it is being streamed via WIFI COX Communications should not be involved...but they are) informing me that I am not authorized to stream ESPN+. Usually that occures about fifteen minutes before a game. So if you purchase ESPN+ and decide to stream it to a smart TV check before game time to insure everything is working.
I don't want to sound like I am complaining about the cost. Frankly, seeing the number of games that ESPN provides on their streaming services SEC+, ACC+, ESPN+ etc., and the number of people it takes to broadcast a game the cost must be immense. Proud to live in a country where we have the ability to see all the games.
Before streaming, I once spent $50 ( money I didn't have) to listen to Tennessee play Arkansas in football circa 1989. I was listening on a telephone connected to Broadcast.Com ( I think). This was one of the first companies Mark Cuban started. Many college football games on radio that you could connect to via phone. Thank goodness for the internet.
