Look at Patty this post season... pitches Bahl all day everyday to win... gives the #1 freshman pitcher one batter. There's what you earned.. be happy with it that's a damn winner right there…
Opposite of what you want to do on a rise ball. Better move back or you are just helping them out.I don't understand why the players do not obviously adjust to the pitcher they are facing. For instance, Brock was getting a steady diet of drop balls throughout. Solution, move up in the box and hit it before the ball breaks severely. Or, against a rise ball pitcher, look for that pitch to be the strike out pitch. Again, move up in the box and hit it before it is up at your eyes. Also, swing at the first strike you see so you do not have to deal with the rise ball. I may be wrong, but by moving up in the box, these two pitches will look like fastballs. Conversely, a fast ball will look faster if you move up in the batter's box. I just don't like looking at strikes or hoping for a walk.
I agree to a certain extent. I have noticed that some players just aren’t comfortable making in-AB adjustments. Some players feel rushed and things like that and in return often miss pitches they should drive. I think that is why the summer/fall even in the early parts of the season it’s important to work on not only the physical adjustments but the mental ones that get in the way of the physical onesOpposite of what you want to do on a rise ball. Karen needs to learn to stay with the hard stuff. OU hit the 3-run HR on a change-up. It was also 2 in a row. The batter made adjustments, Karen wasn't paying attention and she called a pitch in her wheel house.
I was talking about the game with Pickens against Florida State, not Oklahoma. Pickens was in a groove against Florida State and taking her out early for Ashley probably cost us the game.Karen needs to learn to stay with the hard stuff. OU hit the 3-run HR on a change-up. Great question.I noticed last year that OU sits on change ups…to the point of waiting out a pitcher who is known to throw them consistently.
If I was calling pitches against OU, change ups would not be thrown to every hitter. They’d be used very selectively. Even if my pitcher has a great change.
I also wondered if OU could somehow know they were coming. By stealing signs or the pitcher tipping the pitch.

AGREE COMPLETLY!!!! THE K TRAIN WAS ROLLING AND DOING PRETTY WELL!!!I was talking about the game with Pickens against Florida State, not Oklahoma. Pickens was in a groove against Florida State and taking her out early for Ashley probably cost us the game.
And there are some hitters like G that I am convinced go up to the plate looking for walk. Maybe they are not but it appears that way to me.
I like it personally. If it works for them that’s all that matters.Great article on how Oklahoma Women's Softball team is turning a beautiful game into a spectacle that we all despise. It's not just the bat spikes (after walks) that I have discussed before it's also the team positioning themselves three and four deep in the two dugout opening creating a more visible display of anti-sportmanship. It's time for the NCAA to examine certain behaviors as tounting and act accordingly.

“OU coach Patty Gasso said there’s also a double standard in how women who show outward emotion during games are treated vs. male athletes who act similarly”
Maybe they watched Tennessee baseball and said, that looks likes something we should do. Chants directed at pitchers would be more of a taunting behavior to address before this.
Outside of bird flip by Mike Honcho (Jordan Beck), it’s been fun watching kids have fun playing…both male and female.Majors thanks. I went back and added a note on the rule changes implemented to reign in behavior like Tennessee's baseball last year.
I loved Tennessee's run last year. I also agree with Kyle Peterson, Tennessee celebrations were legendary, helped to grow the sport but needed the NCAA to establish boundaries.
Oklahoma women are on another level. In their explanations, (in the article) they say the NBA and MLB wear their emotions on their sleeve... why can't we? I would suggest they ask the NCAA that question.

Ask the 2022 Tennessee Men's Baseball team about excessive celebration and the rules implemented since last year. It makes the Oklahoma argument about double standard laughable.

Insulting b.s. Not only demonstrably untrue (TN men) but irrelevant. She obviously did not grow up under the iron fist of my mother where someone else getting away w bad behavior was not an excuse. Don't even try it.Ask the 2022 Tennessee Men's Baseball team about excessive celebration and the rules implemented since last year. It makes the Oklahoma argument about double standard laughable.
I agree about watching strikes. I'd rather a player swing and miss three times in a row than let one strike go by. ESPECIALLY with two strikes already. Yikes.
This a hundred times over !
It must be a Weakly thing because it has been going on for years.
It’s almost like they have been instructed to make the pitcher throw
a lot of balls and try to get a walk. But after they watch 2 strikes go
past them, they have to swing at anything close. I’m sure opposing
coaches use that against us. They have all seen it for years.
I think that was true when Ralph was coaching but I actually think Karen has more patience.I contend that Weekly has never known how to manage pitchers. She always hooks pitchers at the first signs of trouble--giving up a run, maybe two---which, when you do it a l lot, can ruin a pitcher's confidence. And she found a way to NOT pitch her All American pitcher in the team's biggest game in years.
