Tennessee Softball 2023

It seems that there are a whole lot of pitchers have already transferred even within the SEC. I guess that they may not have stroked Karens imagination! As it looks like the pigs and crimson turds are doing ok with new pitchers. I have to assume Karen has someone in mind.
Karley Keeney from Liberty is one she has her eye on. She had an official visit the weekend of super regionals.

She was hitting over .300 and had 30+ RBI until the physical toll of catching every day got to her.
With Nugent onboard for C. Do you think it opens up another window of possible transfers in the final days..does Keene look to leave by adding G to the DH/UTL role

Even so, G's performance last year at the plate leaves a starting role very uncertain. Even if she doesn't start at catcher, Brockenbrough, Pannell, West and the freshmen will potentially vie for playing time in the OF and DH.

I think the portal rule this year will hurt a lot of lady Vols because they can’t just leave when they want. I think there will be a lot of girls that will be shellshocked with the talent around them when the fall ball starts and then reality sets in and they won’t be able to go nowhere.

For spring sports, such as baseball and softball, athletes can enter the transfer portal from December 1 through December 15 if they are not satisfied with their standing after fall ball. The only difference between now and prior years is that they can’t actually go into the portal and be contacted by teams until December, but they can still make their intentions known, which will it very least start the back channels.

Per UTSPORTS.com

Hailing from Seal Beach, California, Nugent helped win two national titles at Oklahoma. This past season, she hit .274 with 19 runs scored, five doubles, seven homers and 23 RBIs.

A Tennessee native from Chapel Hill, Mealer led Middle Tennessee in batting average (.388), slugging percentage (.697), runs scored (68), hits (78), RBIs (57), doubles (20), home runs (12), total bases (140) and stolen bases (30) this past season.

Mealer hitting .388 looks promising.

Nugent went to Los Alamitos HS, which is where Megan Geer and Jenna Holcomb went.
