Hopefully they will come back down to earth now and realize other teams are not intimated by them walking on the field and will have to play to gain respect. Karen will have to stop this lineup experiment soon. Let’s hope she loses her infatuation with G and Faw for now anyway.

I thought the biggest question mark about this team would be pitching after losing Rogers, but it’s been the bats. That’s surprising considering what we brought back.

why isn’t the team hitting? Is it Karen’s lineup or the teams hitting coach? Normally this is the time of the season stats are inflated because during SEC play they get back to reality but if the stats are low now we are looking like career lows for some of the girls.

Coaching 101 you recruit a pitcher in every recruiting class and you aren’t in this situation. We are struggling against average mid-major teams. Complain about having to manage 6 pitchers but I beat shes eating those words now… having the 4 you have now is going to create a very long season for everyone involved. At some point Karen’s got to quit making excuses and own her decisions.

Noticed that Gottshall was shaking her hand and looking at finger. Maybe a blister or cut, was taken out of game after being looked at

I’d say after this year Malveaux will look for a HC spot as this was a stepping stone spot.

Ideally maybe, but you don’t have to recruit a pitcher in every class. Development is the important factor. Very few teams are going to get a pitcher directly from HS that will be a day one starter. Karen should look more in the portal and not just at P5 players in the portal.

Definitely agree, I would say even some mid-major/cc pitchers could thrive under top p5 coaches. I look at Shannon Saile, Kaitlin Lee, and even Molly Jacobsen all came from smaller schools and the latter 2 even community college, but thrived and made a name for themselves with the right coaching

She's signed pitchers out of the portal in recent years---most of them didn't distinguish themselves. We also have not
been good, IMO, about developing pitchers--though maybe Orsini and White will prove the exception to the rule. With
a lot of pitchers in the last 10 years--including some transfers--either they are good from the moment they get here or
are not so good and essentially stay that way--partly if not mostly because Weekly will stop pitching people who are
struggling. She has a history of pulling pitchers quickly and reducing their innings if they are not going well. Weekly reduced
Pickens's innings pretty significantly late last season, as I recall---and then she suddenly opted to start
her against Oklahoma in the championship series.

More likely Karen cannot develop said transfers.

It’s a long season. No need to panic…yet. All teams go through ebbs and flows with hitting…it’s why pitching is so important. Let’s hope that is all it is, and that it is not their norm for the entire seasn.

But, there is no denying they are off to a slow start, and they will not be very successful if it continues.
