Tennessee Softball 2025

I am assuming that is the case as well. I wasn’t sure what the situation was at Tech, but it didn’t seem like they were on the upward trajectory
I’d say that’s accurate. Graduated a big class…not really sure what they had coming in. Downside is someone like Aubrey Barnhart was recruited by him early when she decommited from Auburn. He got her to visit TX AM before she went to Bama and then transferred to Tech last year to play for him. With one year remaining, not sure she is a take. Karen went all in on her before she committed to Auburn as a 8th grader.

Interesting comment on the press release Sanders & Snider are both getting married this month. Seems like married coaches are a thing here. I guess that was a good thing to get coaches that were willing to move their families

Is Karen setting up her replacement in a couple years? Imo a sitting HC doesn't leave without some promises made.

What style of hitting does he teach?

Not sure in his style but Tech has had good offense especially considering the athletes they have.

The new hitting coach Craig Snider is a great hire by Karen. To pull the Texas Tech head coach to Tennessee as an assistant required great understanding of the changing SEC softball landscape (aka arms race). It also speaks volumes to meeting the challenge of the moment.

With the Malveauxs moving to Auburn, after helping Tennessee win back to back SEC Regular Season Championships we needed a splash hire. Coach Snider is that guy.

Someone was obviously thinking outside the box to hire his future bride (from Penn State Softball) as well. I suspect that was an offer that could not be refused.

Well done Tennessee!

hopefully wyckoff from tech hits the portal and we can grab here. she can really hit the ball. all in all, a really great hire. so excited.
Batted .407, 1.104 OPS, .662 Slugging, .482 OBP, 7 HR, 35 RBIs, 12 Ks in 145 ABs. Definitely someone worth looking at. She was a UTL starting at C, 1B, LF, & RF

Homerun hire in Snider, his numbers at FSU and TX AM are much needed. Players we know that played from him at and TX Tech and TX AM loved him as a coach. Seems Karen also got a 2:1 in hitting and keeping the Texas connection to recruiting.
Snider had signed the second-ranked 2024 recruiting class in the country according to Extra Inning Softball.
Texas Tech softball searches for new head coach after Craig Snider's resignation

In this episode, we have Craig Snider. Craig is currently the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M University. He won a National Championship when he was at his prior school, Florida State University, back in 2018. Craig talks a bit about what they do at Texas A&M from a development standpoint and what he's looking for in recruits.

OU - IF Hodge, UTL Lilio and LHP Geurin have entered the portal. None would be a take on our end. Would think none are a take, but somehow OU backups end up here and do well. We are loaded on the IF and RS-FR Geurin isn’t the portal pitcher you take

Surprised by Hodge considering her end of year performance. SJ was expected though.

Considering Torres is a graduating SR. I figure she’ll be back home in Texas, possibly AM.

Agreed, but what makes it more interesting is that Torres is a graduating senior so from the outside the position looks like it’s hers to lose unless there in someone in their freshman class that is projected to be a lot better than Hodge. Interesting to note that Rylee Holtorf is following JT Gasso & Kelly Maxwell so maybe she saw the writing on the wall that she wasn’t going to be starting???

Cash in. She could be this years Mealer in the class…take advantage of the post season success for a better playing opportunity.

Since the pitching seems slim in the portal I will say southeastern louisiana’s cera Blanchard is someone that could potentially make the jump from a mid-major to a P5 very seamlessly. She was 18-3 with a 1.77 ERA in 146 innings, striking out 111 and allowing just four home runs. However if you look at her game by game stats they might not be impressive, but she impressed me with how she pitched in a regional. I am not saying we need a pitcher to be a Gottshall because that would be rare given what is left, but definitely someone that could be beneficial. I think she has 1 yr left so it would be good so the freshman don’t have to carry such a big load
