Can't do that next week on the road. I'm assuming midterms are this week since they're off another whole week.
Former Vol asst coach, Steve Forbes, is on Wichita St's staff now. I wonder if he'll get the scout for that game. You know he wants to beat UT bad.
Good write up SJ.
If anyone has a replay they know of let me know, thanks. Got to watch the last 2 minutes which allowed me to see AJs dunk, that was a very impressive move, can see the potential.
As I said didn't get to see, but your point on Maymon is something I noticed the last 2 games in Atlantis, glad to hear it's continued. He's making those tough shots around the rim that he used to be so good at, let's hope that continues.
Right now Stokes is playing quite possibly as well as any big man in the county, Randle is obviously up there as well, but IMO Jarnell deserves more praise than he's getting. Just keep it up big man and the accolades will come. He had 0 fouls today, never thought I would see that.
I get people wanting the 4-1, we play it already, but I don't think we should play it more than 2 post sets. Unless the root of our defensive issues are Maymon, then I just don't see much of a benefit in it.
Moore's style is perfect for 10-15 minutes, a quick spurt each half. After that it's too easy to scheme against him and really make it like we're playing with 4 guys on offense, much like teams used to do with josh. Not only that but Maymon is coming around, he's rounding into form, and I doubt Moore is capable of putting up 15&10 on a nightly basis. As you mentioned as well Maymon's passing is a huge asset to this team, Barton's playmaking has been a disappointment so we need those assists from somewhere.
Because every time we play it, we look better than we do with the 2 posts. At some point, this point has to become glaringly clear to Martin which I think it has, somewhat.
Good to win and have Stokes dominate inferior talent. Next week will tell us a lot about this team, for sure.
Well I watched us play 3 games in 3 days person and disagree, but ok. As I've said, it's a weapon and one we use, but IMO it shouldn't be used more than our 2 post set.
among the many stats out there, is there a +/- stat with them playing together and in a 4-1 to compare offensive performance? You could see what each player does and what the team +/- is with the lineups. Still a couple of factors involved, for instance the same 4 players won't be playing together for Stokes and Maymon at times and the other team may have some starters resting for one group, but would be interesting to see it anyway.

Yeah Stokes has been a beast this year. Really can't wait to see him play Randle this year!I was at this game and sat pretty close to the floor. I wanted to give some of my observations.
- As we know, Maymon didn't start. I read a tweet that it was due to the fact he was late for a shoot around or something like that. Regardless, Maymon was in good spirits during warmups and very jovial with AJ, especially during starting lineups. Nothing to worry about from his demeanor IMO.
-AJ and Antonio really started off the game struggling. Antonio had a missed assignment, got beat of the dribble, missed a shot and nearly lost the ball out of bounds without anyone even guarding him within the first 3 minutes. AJ got busted on help defense. Both were immediately substituted.
-Tech had a gameplan to press anytime Thompson was the primary ball handler. He didn't have many turnovers, but that doesn't mean he handled it well. He had a jump ball forced that went out way, should of have a second called, but he somehow was awarded the timeout. He had a ball knocked out of bounds and just had a tough time of it often needing bailed out.
He didn't play poorly, but I can see more teams doing this to us and really testing him.
-you'll make a bunch of three pointers if you shoot them wide open. Tech shot really well, but they were getting open looks is why.
-I said that in order to stop the barrage they were just gonna have to play Josh, Antonio and Moore and make em stick to the best shooters (Moore on the shooting forward) and low and behold that is exactly what CCM did. This was the reason Moore saw so much time.
-CCM was standing and calling out a lot more than I ever remember. Even yelling things like "Travel! That was a travel!"
It's good he communicated so much like calling hedges and screens and top because our players aren't very vocal with each other on the court. That could improve.
-Stokes could have scored 40. I felt bad for the poor boy trying to guard him.
Im a little worried about that matchup, footspeed wise. I am looking forward(hopefully) to JRich putting James Young on lock.
I honestly think Maymon will be on Randle, because he is a little quicker than Stokes right? Plus Stokes will have to man handle WCS againeither way Randle hasn't faced two people as strong as our bigs though and prolly will be the first and last time until he's in the league next year IMO.
Big and strong yes, but laterally as quick no. But like you say Randle won't be around long, he is a beast.
I still like Parker better as a NBA prospect. What'do'you say?
Randle has to develop his off hand, and his spin won't be as effective in the pros and from what I've seen he goes to it a lot. Parker just seems like he can do anything he wants, anytime he wants. Kid is tough.
That is pretty much my take on them as well. I do like Randle's ability to crash the board. If he does that as well in the league as he has so far at KY their scoring output may be close.
