I see nothing in his game that reminds me of LeBron to be honest.
Honestly he looks like a Paul George clone with Jabari being Carmelo if Melo had a basketball IQ.
Still if I'm an NBA gm I'm taking Parker or Marcus Smart over wiggins at this point.
Edit: now that I think about it I would be stuck 50-50 between smart and wiggins.
Guess it may come down to a teams need. If wiggins can put on 10-20 lbs he may be a be the athletic big somebody wants. But if I'm a gm I'm taking the instant offense that I think Smart will give from day 1. jmo
If you take wiggins you're taking purely on potential. Jabari Parker is complete. The only comparison between LBJ and Wiggins is the athleticism. Handles, shooting, vision, passing ability, and defense are not even close.
I couldn't agree more. My top 5 would be:
1. Parker
2. Randle
3. Smart
4. Embiid
5. Wiggins(potential)/or McDermott
Now Wiggins might end up as good or better than anybody on that list. But accessing talent right now I couldn't take him b4 McDermott.
15/5 on 51% shooting while playing great D is overrated?
He's playing up to expectations.
That's the most absurd statement I've ever heard. Sounds more like hate than an observation. He's a 30% 3 point shooter, and that's what 3 feet closer than NBA? He's not dominating other college players, I have a hard time seeing him dominating NBA players, but that's just me.
I just feel like I've heard the same thing before, crazy athleticism, never before seen potential, but doesn't pan out. Wiggins benefited greatly from playing with Ennis, people are now starting to realize that.
This time last year wiggins was the next best thing to God himself and was the sure fire number 1 pick regardless of class....now he may not even be the first player drafted off of his own team.
Why not? James isn't all that great of a shooter. He's not bad, but not elite in my opinion. LBJ relies on his freakish athletic ability. Wiggins' altheltic abilty is probably the best we've seen since Lebron from a forward next to Paul George. His potential is way higher than any player right now. Am I saying he's going to be better than LBJ, not a chance but their games are similar. Their hype is similar too. But me honestly I like Parker's game better.
You're giving way too much credit for his defense, I'm guessing you haven't actually watched much of him. He has the potential to be the best defender in the country, however right now his defense is often criticized.
As for playing up to expectations....check out what accolades he was named for pre season, so far he's not playing at that level. Not to mention what I've already touched on that a year ago expectation was number 1 pick regardless of class, and now there's a debate for if he's even the number 1 pick on his own team.
Not to mention the expectations many had for him as "The Next Lebron".
McRae to OKC is not out of the question. He's the kind of player OKC likes to take. I am personally hoping that my Lakers do poorly enough to actually have a good draft pick for the first time in a decade.
I think he could do what Lamb does if not better. What do you think? I saw in one mock that LA picked 11th and got James Young. I think they get Melo in the FA.
It would be a mistake IMO for them to get Melo but they'll probably do it. As much as they want to see two superstars together two ball dominate players that aren't known for assist and more for ISO isn't going to work.
Yeah you guys went all in on Howard and Nash. Like you said they need to take another approach and hope that they can land some good players in the draft.I do not want Melo as a Laker. He does not fit at all. I have zero faith in Buss Jr. to build a championship team like his father did. It pains me to say it, but we need a few years to actually build a team through the draft. We have traded so many picks for old players and now we are reaping what we have sowed, not that I hated all the championships... we just haven't had a 1st round pick in like 6 years. I was born in Los Angeles and will always ride with the Lakers. However, the new ownership does not have what it takes IMO. The fact that he picked Dantoni over Phil Jackson tells me how serious he is about winning championships.
I think the Lakers have several good young players already. Wesley Johnson has shown some signs as has Nick Young. We just need to hope for a miracle in the lottery ala Chicago getting Rose to help us truly rebuild for the Post-Kobe era. If we could somehow land Parker, Smart, Randle, Wiggins or Embiid I would feel good about the future. Need to unload Gasol's contract to free up space to get some quality free agents next summer. I would love to see Kevin Love as a Laker but I know that will probably never happen.
I've seen him. His instincts are second to none. He gets beat on D some. He's played seven games. You can tell he's special on D. And I've seen him play four games. He disappears. Self also doesn't call a lot for him. Look at how Coach K or Calipari runs the offense through Parker and Randle, whereas Self relies on his PG/Big man combination. He's never had a wing player like Wiggins.
And of course people are dumb and gave him all those accolades. People who knew what they were talking about said he would take longer to adjust than the other two studs. He doesn't have their physical strength. Yet. He will and will be a very good player. I agree with the idea I would take Parker and Randle right now, but saying Wiggins is basically DeMar DeRozan is nuts.
Yeah you guys went all in on Howard and Nash. Like you said they need to take another approach and hope that they can land some good players in the draft.
I never said he was DeRozan did I? You said he has absolutely met expectations, maybe you should've clarified that those were your expectations and not the common national perception. I was going off of what everyone's been saying, #1 pick, best since lebron, 1st team all American....at this point he has not met those expectations.
You said he might be an NBA 6th man .
Basically a worse DeRozan.
