I took it to mean he visited Knoxville this week...he was at Maryland last weekend, then came here a few days later. I may be interpreting that wrong though.

Yeah, he probably visited and had limited access to facilities/special areas. They probably let him see as much as they would show any of us. And dear god, I hope I'm safe in assuming they didn't supply him with gear, food, housing, etc.

Either way, it's a good sign he hasn't committed to Md yet.
Personally I think Tn is his best option for what he wants to accomplish.
His 3pt shot may put us over the top as a strong contender in the SEC.

Agree 100%. I've said since golden left, if we can make it through his visit to Maryland I like our chances. You know his family and friends were a strong pull, I'm guessing it was hard not to just go ahead and commit. However, now that he's back in Memphis and thinking about things it appears...have to like the fact he has made it clear the biggest thing he is looking for is PT and to showcase his abilities. Not anyone on his list that's better suited for that than Tennesee IMO.

This is the part that bothers me though...
Another source close to Barton told me last week that the decision could come “very soon” and all signs pointed toward College Park. His family in Baltimore, which includes 4-year-old daughter Skyy, wanted to be able to see him play at Comcast Center. He is already close with Maryland guard Nick Faust, his godbrother. But nothing has happened yet.

He has stated that he is also wanting more minutes. Hence the reason he left Memphis. I think he loves his daughter very much but in the end Barton will be suiting up for us next yr

He needs to come with us we can offer more playing time for sure and he could be part of a very special team.

What we offer is a lot of playing time and even a possible starting position. They have a lot of guards in competition at Maryland but they have the close to home factor. Pull him in CCM.

I'm thinking considering our point guard position with a freshman and other guys that haven't played there so well. CCM might say your a starter if you come to Tennessee. He may offer him a starting position and that could possibly be the difference in our favor. I'm hoping anyway.

CCM isn't the type to promise a starting spot (wants you to earn it), but Barton can look at our roster and realize he's our starting PG the moment he steps on campus.

Wes Rucker is claiming he talked to an high level basketball source(maybe an assistant coach?) and Antoinio Barton has not been on campus yet. They are hoping to get him here sometime.

Don't mind me. Retired 15 years and i lose track.
Didn't realize today was the 18th.
I do better during fb and bb season. Makes me keep track of time.

A source from the baltimore Sun said he was here Wednesday or thursday.
Rucker says no way Jose.

I am not going to pretend that I am on the 'inside' of the Barton recruitment despite my best efforts, but based on conversations I had on Thursday of this week (2 days ago) I would be surprised if that was true, that he was here on an official visit. Will do my best to double check, and I could be wrong, but again I don't think that's the case.

I do know that Josh Selby, who is cousins with the Bartons, has been hanging around Knoxville recently allegedly with Bobby Maze. Maybe something is originating from that angle, but again, nothing that I've heard suggest Barton has been in town as a visitor.

Correct as long as it wasn't face to face.


The fact that Rucker is saying that his sources say he wasn't on campus doesn't tell me much since its a dead period. The stance would have to be that the coaches had no knowledge of him being on campus in order to avoid a violation.
