Tennessee to pursue Antonio Barton

Correct as long as it wasn't face to face.

The fact that Rucker is saying that his sources say he wasn't on campus doesn't tell me much since its a dead period. The stance would have to be that the coaches had no knowledge of him being on campus in order to avoid a violation.

If the rule is just that they can't meet face to face, then I wouldn't think it would matter if the coaches knew he visited campus (provided that they didn't meet).

Actually the dead period started Thursday, so he could've been here Wednesday like reports are saying and there'd be no issue

Can Antonio commit to any school before he graduates from UM?? If he was really here Wednesday, it would have been nice to get him to announce his decision to become a Vol for Life....or at least a year!!

He's a transfer so he doesn't really "commit". He can know where he wants to go and announce it before he graduates.

"The Vols reportedly sneaked Barton onto campus for a visit during the middle of last week and, according to The Baltimore Sun, now pose a legitimate threat to Maryland in the competition for his services."

"Maryland remains the team to beat because Barton is a Baltimore native and has a four-year-old daughter living there. Tennessee reportedly turned his head during last week’s visit, however, and now has at least an outside shot at landing him."

"Although Syracuse, Texas A&M and Kansas State also are bidding for Barton’s services, Maryland and Tennessee are believed to be locked in a two-team race."

So they basically just reiterated what the Baltimore Sun wrote? Well thanks anyways lol.

I think we have a great shot, the longer he considers everything the better our chances IMO.

I'm gonna take this time to once again criticize the Knoxville media. Are they this bad/lazy, or does CCM truly have thing on lock to this extreme over there?

Wes Rucker and Quinn were basically calling people dumb when fans were asking them about golden rumors...well guess what, turns out they were true. Now Temnessee gets a recruit on campus, a huge piece potentially for next years team keep in mind, and the place we find out about it is the Baltimore Sun? And how about the Yemi situation, he was supposedly in court twice in February, yet we don't hear about anything until now?

Yeah, the UT beat has been underwhelming this past year. I imagine that the reason for this particular discretion is that the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post are using sources from inside the Barton camp, while the UT beat is relying on sources from UT. Clearly, UT's staff is more effective at keeping this hushed up and has more incentive to do so. Don't think anyone on the UT beat has a reliable source in the Barton camp.

I agree about the Barton situation, all you need is a family member or even friend to talk. However, Quinn should've been making a connection 2 weeks ago with a Barton family member or friend, that's his job.

And like I said, this isn't the first issue the deal with golden where Quinn and Rucker were basically talking down to fans for asking about the rumor...which turned out to be true was a bit uncalled for IMO.

It just almost seems like with basketball they wait until rumors are flying or there's a statement from UT. You should have a source at the courts that tells you anytime a UT athlete is there, I mean yemi was in court twice in February and nobody says anything?

Tell'em kid!!! Yes, I think they are very bad/lazy. I believe CCM loves keeping his program on lock, but it sure makes it easier to do when even the local media isnt the least little bit motivated to do a little diggin.

Prime example is Cornish. I pay for VQ because I do think Rob Lewis is the best, but its almost a who's the better of the bad, because none of them are very good IMO. Rob had NO idea about Cornish, none of the local guys did, yet me some guy on VN was telling people something may be coming soon, that's pathetic. I shouldn't have better sources and resources than people that are around the program everyday and get paid for this...ok rant over.

Back to Barton, Maryland media seems to be shifting their position, most seem to be leaning towards him ending up at Tennessee.

I am leaning with the majority on here. If he didnt commit after his visit up there, with you know all kinds of pressure from family to commit, then Barton has a different plan for himself. And UT sure could use the good news that plan is us.

Rob hates calling recruits IMO. Avoids it like the plague.

Reading one of the Terp sources who said if they missed on Barton they might make a play for Golden.will he be eligible this season?
