This is not a big factor for us, right?
"Under NCAA rules, a player who graduates in three years can transfer and play at another school immediately if the new school has a graduate program that the players former school doesnt. Typically, transfers need to sit out a year.
Barton said he has one class remaining in the first summer school session in Memphis, and he expects to receive a degree in leisure and sports management in June. Barton said he is not sure what he will pursue academically as a graduate student.
Barton said this decision is strictly based on playing time. After playing nearly 25 minutes per game and averaging 8.2 points as a freshman, Barton saw his playing time cut to 16.7 minutes as a junior, playing behind Memphis native Joe Jackson."
Antonio Barton says Maryland is one of a few programs he's seriously considering - Baltimore Sun
You are correct. We agreed following that particular game as well. JRich actually picked up his 4th foul IIRC with 17 minutes to play in the 2nd half. He went to the bench and McBee played effictively. I won't rehash the details as you did a fine job. I think Turner wore out down the stretch of that game which was to McBee's advantage, and Richardson played the four OTs without picking up his 5th.
Do we know a timeline of when barton might decide? Or is it just sonetime before school starts in the fall?
How much contact has there actually been between the UT staff and Barton? Obviously the fans are calling for his recruitment, UT has minutes, and Barton wants minutes, but I have yet to hear anything "official". All we keep hearing in Memphis is Texas A&M, Syracuse, and Maryland. Just wondering if Martin and staff have actually been contacting him, how much, mutual interest, if he's visited, etc....
There has definitely been contact, and they're working on getting him to visit. He is finishing his visit to Maryland today, if he remains uncommitted through Monday I would expect to hear news of official visit to Tennessee.
I figure ya'll could give him almost all the minutes he could handle. What kind of minutes can he get at Maryland and Texas A&M? Syracuse he's only gonna get what Tyler Ennis gives up.
Maryland returns their 2 best guards, I know A&M returns fabyon Harris. He has said his decision is gonna be based on fit abs playing time, if that holds true Tennessee would be his best option. He would be a starter and 30 minutes a game guy as soon as he stepped on campus.
Then I would agree ya'll have a big advantage as far as playing time, somewhat of a disadvantage of getting in the game late. Maryland has location, Texas A&M has Glynn Cyprien. Be interesting to see.
