That said, not all knee injuries are equal. ZZ’s could have been as bad as Acuña’s or more comparable to Quinnerly’s. But it’s not a certainty that he won’t be ready day 1 just because Acuña took a year to recover.

I just don’t think this staff needs to bet on ZZ being healthy. That seems exceedingly risky. Even if ZZ is healthy, we all saw what happened this year when you have one primary ball handler. This team really, really needs a PG in the portal and if we don’t get one I will be a bit concerned about the ceiling of next year’s team.

Perfectly stated. It's like going into football season with only one QB on the roster. It's insane. Not sure what or who the problem is when it comes to the portal, but somehow other teams are able to take advantage of the process. The portal is here to stay and while you don't necessarily want to build your team using the portal, you have to be able to address some of your critical needs using it.

Totally different sport, but I think the point still re mains the same, but I just watched Ronald Acuna struggle through a whole season coming back from a torn ACL, and it took until this year before his knee was healthy. Even if ZZ gets back when he wants too, he wont be vintage ZZ. We need another option.

I would think that Seigler could take a red shirt season in 2024 to get completely healthy and then return in 2025.

Edwards and Dillone and Mashack could all see some point guard minutes in 2024.

Would love to see us go hard after Arterio Morris. (Guard, Texas) Long athletic PG who can drive the ball in the paint, but can knock down step back shots. We desperately need more athleticism and speed who can knock down shots.

Totally agree. We need another PG. I’m just saying that Acuña’s situation doesn’t mean we won’t have ZZ in 23-24.
