Tennessee Transfer Portal Targets

I said we should pursue Love because we had a relationship with him coming out of high school. I was told, "No". I said something like, "why not, he's a baller and we have a relationship, kick the tires". Then I was told something like, "Lmao, smoke some more weed". I got mad, made a comment. Then we did kick the tires, so that's what it is referring to, if all that made sense
Wait a minute - you got mad because someone suggested you should smoke some more weed?

Listen, add some scoring, and up the tempo next year and we miiiiiiiiiggggghhhhttttt be better than I think next year
If anything it’ll make things exciting. And we won’t be in a situation where all five guys on the court look to be actively avoiding shooting the ball

Everybody and their mother is going to go after Love. I doubt we get him even if we make him a priority.

Up tempo requires...fresh bodies and frequent substitution...AND...you can't have lots of turnovers ...think FAU...we might be able to pull it off next year, but we did not have the personal required this year.

I grew up on soul. Currently singing classical and musical theater. Mostly, I have eclectic taste. Do not have a fondness for country or rap. All time favs are the Spinners and Acapella.

I would definitely be in on Love, I understand maturity concerns and if there is locker room cancer concerns that some on here have said. Then I’d be worried. However the one thing I like about Love is that he’s aggressive and an alpha.

The best thing about our culture is also the worst thing. “INAM” - it’s not about me, I love the team first, family culture. Hard nosed defense with a bunch of nice guys. But it seems almost every year we have too many team first passive guys. We need an alpha dog to step up and be a go to guy. Closest we had recently was Chandler.

We need a go to guy who can take over and score at will.

That’s the difference between 19 team and recent teams. The 19 team was average on defense but had a bunch of alpha go get it offensive guys who could get a bucket at any time (Grant/AD/Bone/LT/Bowden)
yet recent teams have been great defensive teams but no alpha on offense who could take over a game get a bucket in crunch time.

All that to say I wish Barnes took more risks recruiting game changes instead of robots

Lennie Rosenbluth, star center on the 1957 UNC national championship team coached at my HS in Wilson, NC in the mid 60's. When asked what type of player he wanted, he simply said, (in his Brooklyn accent), "I want somebody who can put da damn bol fwew da hole". That pretty much sums up what UT fans want, I imagine.

I saw on Rupp Rafters where some UK fans are rumoring that we have interest (and that it might be mutual) in Sahvir Wheeler. KY fans loved to hate on him but he has a lot of up side. The kid is #5 ALL TIME in assists in the SEC. I think they might lose their minds if he actually ended up coming here. Among point guards in the portal, he’s probably #1. Could be an interesting development. But the question is, would we want him?

I'm confident you know this ....but....Rick will NOT take a person like you described above. He simply won't do it. And for that I'm most grateful too!
No, I don't "know" this, but I do have a sound internet connection and the necessary skills to use various search engines. And with what I've read, the kid has talent AND a very involved father, but he's a volume shooter with a less than stellar make pct. His game revolves around...well...him. His decision making process is suspect and his game didn't "mesh" with his backcourt mates. If we were struggling as a program, taking a shot with a guy like this would be worth a roll of the dice. UNC decided he wasn't worth it and they moved on from him as much as he moved on from them. From reports, it appears that Indiana has reached out to Love and his father and there's "mutual interest".

We're in a really solid spot as a program right now. We've got momentum. I'd prefer to keep that going. Love might be an AA at his next stop or he might be fools gold. Just too many red flags and I don't see Barnes or UT being desperate enough to take that chance. I'd much rather have Menifield and/or McKnight. The armchair coach has spoken. ;)

Good gawd, NO! I'd rather pay Edwards NIL money to stay.

VQ's podcast indicated that UT has interest in Chris Ledlum from Harvard. New York kid. 6'6" forward. Looks like he's got wiggle down low and an outside shot. Supposed to be high energy. Not the quickest looking guy, but he can score the ball and might be that guy who can get that bucket in crunch time. We'll have competition for him tho. Indiana has made contact here as well. Had a bad shooting game(6-18FG/2-9 3pt) vs KU but still had 17pt/9 rebounds. 5 TO tho.

Why would you want him? Y’all just got rid of him.

Would be a good JJJ replacement. He averages 19 points and 9 rebounds a game at Harvard. He shot 47% but only 29% from 3. Still though that shooting percentage from inside the arc is impressive.
