Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

Collins didn’t screw us at all. If we put all our eggs in that basket and didn’t pursue other options, the coaching staff screwed us.
I disagree that he didn’t screw us at all. It sounds like this was a few months in the making, and if he went back to SLU because of a last minute offer made there, then yeah, he screwed us.

Back up plans are rarely as good as primary options, so I doubt it was realistic to keep a Pack, Tyrese Hunter, or Sears waiting in the wings just in case Collins had a change of heart. There still may be a back up option, but it’s not going to be nearly as attractive as an all conference player and National assists leader.

There’s only a handful of old school coaches left in college basketball.

Barnes being one, Izzo, Huggins, Frank Martin, probably a few others I’ve missed.

But I agree.

Kids are a lot different now apparently.
NIL plays a part imo. Go to school A and sit on the bench for 2 years where nobody knows your name and you don't really get anything. Go to school B play 30 minutes as a freshman and get 150k deal at 19?

Well, Edwards will now get a lot of run backing up ZZ at PG. With 3 remaining scholarships left you have to wonder if we will be able to fill them with players who can contribute. Phillips would be huge and still in play evidently, but pretty disappointing recruiting season thus far.
I still think we can be pretty good next year with expected player development (ie: ZZ, Aidoo) as we have a lot of experience returning (ie: Vescovi, JJJ, Key, Nkamhoua), but we still don’t currently have anyone who can create a shot with clock winding down. With so many seniors on squad next year 2023 is setting up to be a massive roster reset.

Does losing Collins hurt our chances with Philips? I just wonder if part of the sell was us bringing in a replacement for KC?

Not sure what PGs are still out there for us to pursue, that would fit CRB's style of play.

A lot of hope seems to be riding on the 2023 class. Unless Spyre steps up, we could be in some trouble IMO.

This is why you don't focus on just 4 players.

Barnes worried about hurting ORN and Plav's feelings when they aren't SEC starters. Go get a ****ing stud and tell him he is starting next year. Really not hard.

Umm, ORN was an SEC starter and was playing well before he got hurt.

I will be interested to hear what BTO says whenever he returns to the board. He practically guaranteed Collins was coming, and got chirpy with pretty much everyone questioning the off season plan because of it.

He will still find a way to defend the staff and label anybody critical of our offseason as trolls or negavols.

I’m sure he’ll delete this comment if he sees it like he has before.

Lol he has the ability, but has yet to show it. There's plenty of portal guys that are way better than he is.

If you really have confidence in just ORN, Plav, and Aidoo, then I hope you enjoy next season lol

If you think ORN is our worst problem then you’re clearly overreacting. Lmao

This is starting to get ugly. I hope Barnes finds a way to improve this roster or it might be time for him to retire like Wright, K, and Williams.

Or did Sypre?? Are we really getting out-bid by Saint Louis? He wouldn’t have entered the portal only to come back if he weren’t soliciting offers.
