I get that most of the money is being earmarked for football, but I just find it hard to believe that there's no real money for basketball.
Where are you getting this info that we haven’t offered him an NIL deal?Really don’t understand the point in not giving Phillips the NIL. What’s the alternative? What’s the backup plan? There clearly isn’t one. It’s not like we already have 2-3 other blue chips coming in asking for big $ to where Phillips wasn’t in the budget.
So either you pay for the kid and build a contending team or don’t, and settle for mediocrity.
Head scratcher.
Hahaha I wasn’t questioning the troll because of the content, just because you’ve responded to so many of my posts lately with the Spyre line of questioning. As I’ve said, I definitely agree that there’s more to think about now with drawing the line between criticizing the staff/NIL group. Bottom line, they gotta find a way to get on the same page or figure out alternative arrangements. Also, are we now at the point where questioning Spyre gets someone labeled as a troll? Lol!
Transfer portal is open for awhile maybe wait till it closes for next year to criticize…Hahaha I wasn’t questioning the troll because of the content, just because you’ve responded to so many of my posts lately with the Spyre line of questioning. Well, it closes in a week and to be frank, unless there is a mammoth shocker transfer, the elite talent pool is not getting any bigger. Please ping me when I’m allowed to criticize soon tho! I’d love to come back and do so!Transfer portal is open for awhile maybe wait till it closes for next year to criticize…
Basketball players, in general, are bad investments for big NIL money... If the guy is really really good, best-case, U have him 1 year. They can go to the NBBA without ever playing a single game on campus... ask KY. In football worse case the guy is a bust but you're gonna have him 3 years. Most of the guys getting big big money will be QB's , then skill positions and people that hunt QB's. Plus there is the fact football makes money. I do not have numbers But I would bet that UT football alone makes more money annually (even over the last decade) that all other non-football SEC sports programs combined. Outside of bluebloods, most men's basketball and baseball teams don't make much money. In women's sports only a handful of women's basketball teams make a profit and the rest of the sports (men's and women's) are completely subsidized by the men's sports teams ( basically football).Football gets more ratings and tv revenue than basketball.
It’s really not a shocker to see a sh*t ton of money being put into the football program to get us back to being relevant again.
FTR I don’t have anything against Spyre at all. They’re a private business operating in their best interests. You know, like don’t hate the player, hate the game. I’m skeptical about how the current NIL era will impact college sports. But it’s very new and just kind of a hard thing to wrap my head around. So I’m just asking questions sometimes playing devils advocateHahaha I wasn’t questioning the troll because of the content, just because you’ve responded to so many of my posts lately with the Spyre line of questioning.
