A post that makes sense. The weeping and gnashing of teeth over what is going to happen is comical. I will remind everyone that Barnes received an extension through 26-27‘ just one month ago. The ball is in his court as to what he will or will not do as far as his future is concerned.from inside the AD, Barnes in no way, no how, pulled out of Yuri Collins deal.
NiL may create locker room tensions, but Barnes isn’t refusing to adapt.
Maybe the Spyre side pissed because they got outbid.
That is why the Power 5 schools would need to come together to establish rules I.e. a salary cap or maximum amounts so milarcto what they do with Maximum scholarships in baseball. Coaches would have an amount and have to figure out how to divide.I my experience with contracts, attorneys for the top kids would spill red ink all over those provisions in the contract leaving it in the school’s hands to accept or not. They’d eventually find a school to accept the terms.
Best case scenario is Barnes decides to retire at the end of a season. Whether it be next season or 5 seasons from now, best to let him choose to walk away, then pray DW makes a good hire. Letting Rick go would poison the well much like we did when we let Fulmer go as coach.
How does that post make anymore sense than the others outside of the fact that it absolves Barnes of any culpability?A post that makes sense. I didn’t say I knew the guy was an insider, but I do agree with his idea that there COULD be a different opinion. None of us really know what the situation is regarding basketball operations. I certainly don’t know, but it has to be much more complex than the standard “Barnes isn’t adapting to the NIL concept.” If we all only knew all the stuff that has transpired, all the conversations that have taken place, and all the game plans produced, I’m sure we would all be amazed at what has taken place. How does that post make anymore sense than the others outside of the fact that it absolves Barnes of any culpability?
I'm not trying to skull-drag CRB, here, but how is this unsubstantiated rumor any more credible than the negative-tinted rumors? Coming from "inside the AD", it isn't too surprising that it paints CRB in the most positive light.
If a player wants to play college basketball they very much could cap earnings. It would be part of their scholarship papers/grant in aid. The Colleges can write the rules however they want. If a kid doesn't like them he can turn pro. If the Power 5 come together, then there is no reason they can't make the rules however they want. The only question would be how much to allow to be put in the pot to compete with kids gong straight to the G League.this is not money from the school. The whole point is that they cannot cap a players earnings.

Until the coaches are capped, this won’t stand up in court. That is why the Power 5 schools would need to come together to establish rules I.e. a salary cap or maximum amounts so milarcto what they do with Maximum scholarships in baseball. The ncaa can’t overrule federal law lol, what is with you folks wanting to cap what ppl earn in a free market? If a player wants to play college basketball they very much could cap earnings. They got paid by companies who actually made money from their endorsements. NIL is basically a gofundme for free agents. It's really bizarre. There's already a strucure in place where fans can donate money to university athletics. It's only a matter of time before the NCAA get sued and are forced into revenue sharing. If the they were smart they'd cut out the middle-man now and get ahead of this pay thing. Most pro sports leagues have salary caps but they don’t limit what athletes can earn on their NIL outside of their salary. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods didn’t become billionaires on just their salaries.
I think the one sure way to get sued and forced into revenue sharing is to take NIL in house. They got paid by companies who actually made money from their endorsements.
