This thread jumped about 5 pages during my commute and when I opened it, I thought for sure there was actual news. Nope.I'm hoping to see the Vols sign someone soon. That is the news I'm most interested in reading about along with players that are interested in UT. I figure the NIL will take care of itself if there is real interest from the player(s) wanting to be a Vol.
Think that’s the only one of his finalists to not do a visit yet, also no OV lined up there yet.
Kansas loses Remy Martin, they played a ton of 2 guard looks with Martin and Harris much like we did with Zeigler & Chandler, so I’m sure Kansas is pitching that. Purdue & Gonzaga along with Tennessee probably have the “easiest” path to 30+mpg for him, but Kansas isn’t too far behind. I’m sure opposing teams will point to adding Key and Zeigler returning as a negative for PT.Kansas is a big name, but if the rumors of him wanting to go somewhere he can start are true, Tennessee makes a lot more sense than Kansas. I'm pretty sure Kansas returns their lead guard (and starter) DeJaun Harris. Does he supplant him as a starter? Feels unlikely, but who could say. Harris played in 40 games, but his production wasn't great.
I'm not certain Tennessee will land Hunter, and odds are we won't, but the more you think about it the more Tennessee makes a lot of sense. He'd be the immediate starting PG on a roster returning the majority of it's production and major minutes, we're one of the most experienced teams out there, and it presents him a chance to win now as opposed to Louisville which is going through a major rebuild with a 1st year HC.
Purdue is obviously a major threat. And, part of me feels like he ends up there, but you can make a pretty compelling case for Tennessee as the "best" of his three options where he took OVs and our NIL game is hopefully stronger than Gonzaga or Purdue.

His hometown is only about 3 hours from Purdue, so they would definitely make some sense, especially with the departures they’ve had at guard.
I’ve seen some talk that they are lacking in NIL, their fans thought Pack was a lock there until Miami came along with NIL…so maybe a nice NIL deal here and they won’t match. The fact he visited there and didn’t commit and is taking other visits usually would mean he’s at least open somewhat.Yeah, Purdue has been swinging in the portal for a lead guard and has missed on a few just like us. I think ultimately Purdue is where he ends up. They’re going to land someone.
The thing is they aren’t getting the short end of the stick. There is a difference in saying our NIL game needs to improve (which most agree on) and saying our guys are being undervalued because we aren’t paying each of them $5+ million.
We KNOW the reigning NPOY is returning on a $2 million deal. You really think that other players are going to be anywhere near what a NPOY guy is making? They aren’t and they shouldn’t be.
I didn’t think international players like Vescovi and Uros could benefit from an NIL deal. How would that be any different for Tshiebwe? Did something change with that?

They can grant exemptions to the rules on employment based on economic hardship. Not sure if he somehow fell into that. To get a student visa in the first place you have to prove you have the means to support your yourself/studies. The other way is if he gets a vocational/non-academic student visa. But the employment has to relate to the vocational program. Did the university of Kentucky make basketball a vocational program? Not sure how they got around the visa thing. They found a way to work around visa rules and hopefully we are finding that way as well.
Oscar Tshiebwe now eligible for NIL deals
Whatever they're doing, if it's legal, we need to emulate them. They can grant exemptions to the rules on employment based on economic hardship. Not sure if he somehow fell into that.
