Tennessee vs Iowa by position

Sampson averages 5.5 yds per carry, that’s better than your top three running backs. He has 7 rushing TDs which is more than your top three combined.
Plus , he's just played a 1/3 of each games splitting time with 3 future NFL RBs. He will be the featured back and most great backs the more touches they get the better they get as the game goes on. Me personally I'm looking forward to see him play the #1 throughout the game. I'm thinking he will get 80% of the carries and Seldon & maybe Keith split the other 20%. I believe after the game we will talking about Sampson after this game heading into next year.

No way. Nico we have no idea. Sampson absolutely better than Leshon Williams, Kaleb Johnson 😂 yeah right
He hasn't played as much because he is an underclassmen, but he is as talented as anybody. Certainly the starter next season and easily a 1000 yard back.

Our two TE's Castle and Warren are good players with a lot of experience so don't see any big advantage there. Probably the best advantage for Iowa is LB and secondary as we'll be trying some new guys in the secondary although it many turn out better than the guys we had playing.

Haha yeah so impressive that you ran the ball on ****ing Austin Peay, UTSA, Virginia, UConn and Vandy. 😂😂

But I guess you did beat powerhouses like 5-7 South Carolina, 7-5 Kentucky and 7-5 A&M.

What a brutal SEC schedule, best 8-4 team ever 😂😂😂
Iowa’s best win? 7-5 NW? AM’s record is irrelevant, their overall defense is top 20 and rush defense is top 15 and we put up 235 on them. We faced 6 top 30 rush defenses and averaged roughly 170 YPG against them, that’s more than Iowa averaged all year. So taking out the APSU’s and UVA’s we still rush for more yards than Iowa. You can’t seriously be this dense and watch your team and remotely rank their offensive personnel over ANYONE in the country at this juncture. 13 games in, the tape doesn’t lie, it’s downright embarrassing how bad offensively Iowa is.

No I agree. I think what UT did against upper echelon teams like Austin Peay, UConn, UTSA, Vandy and Virginia is EXTREMELY impressive.

If you just compare talent and experience by position group here is how I see it:

QB- Deacon Hill has more experience but played poorly on the whole. Nico more talent but very little experience. PUSH
Hill has been flat bad. Worse yet, he doesn't appear to be mobile. It is a push only if Nico plays WAY below his talent level
RB- Iowa has 3 experienced backs and UT is down their top 2. IOWA
Depth favors Iowa because of UT's two players out. Sampson will be the most talented RB on the field. How much of the burden he can carry will be the tell of the tale. The two guys behind him are talented but not experienced. But none of that is why you are overestimating. UT's OL will be about as healthy as they've been in a while. Heupel is going to spread your D out from sideline to sideline to create natural running lanes. Typically you can get away with being slow if you play great assignment D. Most teams struggle vs UT's run game even if they have speed AND play good assignment D.

In short, it is scheme more than players that evens this up or even gives UT the advantage.
WR- Besides former top 100 recruit Kaleb Brown, the hawks lack here obviously. Even in a down year for your standards you guys have a big advantage here. UT
This could be a little closer than you think. White and Keyton are solid but have not been spectacular catching passes from Milton. Keyton in particular looked like he took a step back. Nimrod and Webb are still developing. UT is more uncertain than we wish they were.
TE- Even with two NFL players out due to injury this isn’t close. IOWA
How much do you know about UT's TEs?
OL- Iowa has been very inconsistent up front but has had games where they dominate on the ground. UT is beat up and down a lot of guys. PUSH
Your OL is 11th in rushing, 11th in yd/att, and 11th in sacks allowed in spite of being 10th in att/gm. UT is a little beat up but will be healthier than the last couple of games for sure. It isn't a matter of UT being great necessarily... but Iowa just being really bad.
DL- UT lost Baron, but has had a better pass rush than the Hawks this year. Iowa is deeper and better against the run. Without Baron it’s IOWA.
You're a fan. I get it. You are proud of your team and are looking for reasons. I get it. But with or without Baron, UT goes 3 deep on the DL and rotates all in. You were 4th in rush D in the Big 10 playing in the weak West. UT was 2nd in the SEC allowing 10 yds more per game with only one real stinker (Mizzou) while playing by any measure a much more difficult SOS.

The other part of this again is that you have the 11th ranked rush O in the Big 10 while UT has the 2nd best rush O in the SEC. We don't know how much UT will miss Wright but Sampson is more than capable... and Nico is closer to Hendon Hooker running the ball than Milton.
LB- two all Americans and a 2nd team all B1G player for the hawks IOWA.
Yep. UT isn't bad but Iowa is good.
DB- Lol. IOWA
Unknown. I don't mind you saying Iowa because UT is going to push some young guys into bigger roles. All things being equal then you would just "LOL" this one. They aren't equal. Those younger players for UT have elite talent and speed.
Special teams- 2023 All American punter and 2022 all American kicker IOWA
Push. UT probably has the best kick returner you'll see all year. UT is solid at FG and place kicking. UT's punter is effective but not on the level of your guy.
I don’t think UT is better anywhere besides receiver.
LOL. The two places you can say you have an advantage is punter and LB. Based on your claims, this should be a run away win for Iowa. You think UT's DL sucks, OL sucks,....

Maybe I'll be the one unpleasantly surprised... but right now I think that's more likely you.

The sub 90 yard rushing performances yall put up against the worthy opponents of ISU, MSU, Utah St and Minnesota are impressive as well. Not just anyone can run on Minnesota for 11 yards on only 30 attempts. That takes a “special” team.

You guys are the worst offense in the Power 5, so I don’t see how any offensive area can be rated higher. If your line and backs are so great, why haven’t you guys been able to score more points by running the ball. I do understand why your punter is the best in the country, he gets more practice than every other punter. Homer ratings have no value!!

This and NICO big edge at QB, If He handles it. Tenn can negate Iowa's advantage on Defense by keeping them on the field .

This is the best possible matchup for us with the state of our secondary. I doubt they’ve seen the pace that our offense can run. Our special teams aren’t shabby either. Dee can take one to the house anytime. I like our chances. Just gotta win the turnover battle

Alot of home cooking in your analysis. Play someone with a pulse. And win it. Then get back to us.

IMO, best post on this thread

After quick review of all the postings, only thing I saw as missing and of potential concern is our younger RB's ability to consistently help protect Nico when throwing as Iowa will be blitz crazy.

Agreed, even with good weather, we absolutely must win the TO battle and have Dee get us in position for at least FG's
