How is Kentucky a bad matchup? I get that they’ve shot lights out against us, but that wasn’t a matchup thing. Florida is a bad matchup, due to their interior strength. I don’t see Kentucky as a bad matchup.something will definitely have to change on both sides for us to pull the W.
Bad matchup, they will come in very confident, but those two L's were a while ago and anything can happen in the tourney. If we can limit their 3pt shooting and keep from going cold for stretches, we have a legit chance. Oh, and Igor needs to pull is head out of his arse and finally have a day.
Nervous but not terrified. It’s a winnable game, but it’ll take a great performance. That’s not surprising at this point of the tournament, though. Every team will have to play really well from here on out to advance.
I do think Kentucky is a tough matchup for us, but they aren’t unbeatable for us. Just have to find a way to keep them out of rhythm on offense and make it our kind of game.

That does not speak well for Tennessee then. For a team that is all new this year from the bottom up, they have done pretty well. Personally, I like their game. It is modern basketball and will only get better.No. It’s a comically easy sweet 16 game. I view Kentucky as a relic of a program. Change gen logo and that team is more like a 6 seed pretending to be a 3
I'm banking on this confidence being a net negative, tho. KY is going to roll out the same game plan as the last two games. There is no real need for any player to personally challenge themselves to perform better in regards.Doesn’t sound worried to me. It sounds like he is confident….and why shouldn’t he be, they are 2-0 against the Vols this year.
I think what some are saying/arguing is it is hard to beat an equal or even very slightly better/worse team 3 times in a row. What are the stats for “hard to beat team” 3 times in a season? I don’t buy it. If they beat us twice already, they’ll have an excellent chance again. I think the pressure is all on us. This seems like a BVS moment for the ages.
That may be the case, but IMO I don't see him as someone that has to go out on top. I think he will know the time and do it when he's ready. He could have already made his mind up he's staying no matter what or he's leaving no matter what. it's hard for me to see someone make a life changing event on whether he wins the next game or not. IMO that's not very smart.Hubbs just said on the radio their is a lot of noise that if Barnes wins this game friday night no matter what happens this may be it for him
I was following until I saw “football is better than it used to be with regular sell outs”. Funny, I did a google search on “UK football stadium size” and it came back with 90,000. I was shocked until I looked closer and saw the 90k was for UK’s, as in England’s football, as in soccer stadium. UK as in Kentucky’s stadium size is 61k.While I agree they hang their hat on being a basketball school, some of the UK fans I know don’t see themselves as only a one trick pony anymore. Their arrogance has been slowly but cautiously expanding. In looking at it, they did just go to the College World Series in baseball last season, recently won a volleyball national championship, football is better than it used to be with regular sell outs, gymnastics just got a top 10 national seed, and their women’s basketball is on the rise. Not sure about the other sports up there but speaking objectively, their AD Barnhart has made them a more well-rounded athletic program than they ever used to be. That being said, I can’t stomach a loss to them this Friday. Their fans will be insufferable all off-season. So please sweet baby Jesus, give us this win. GBO!
Butler should not run his mouth, worried? smoked? Overconfident? Pope has done well and Ky appears to be gaining ground. Anything can happen in a football stadium turned into a Basketball Arena. We will know soon enough. Depth perception. Again, Butler just shaking the bushes. That does not speak well for Tennessee then. For a team that is all new this year from the bottom up, they have done pretty well. Personally, I like their game. It is modern basketball and will only get better.
I was curious about this too because it's something you hear so often. Here's a 538 article that looked into it: It Really Is Harder To Beat A Team The Third Time In Men’s College BasketballWhat are the stats for “hard to beat team” 3 times in a season? I don’t buy it.
