Do you think we could still beat them if we meet in say, the elite eight ?
To be honest I think we could because I think they'll (UConn) would go into the game kind of like they did the Mississippi State game (underestimating what we could do)
I also think our fans (and players) want them more than they want us. I also think for the same reason I've stated for the chance to do something that hasn't been done at UT in what would be 10 years would be special and allow them to leave a legacy of their own as the first to help Coach Warlick reach a Final 4/Potential title
From the sound of things the LVs are on track for a very good year. The season is still young and the schedule hasn't exactly been the toughest, but it sounds like Nared and Russell are giving great leadership and the freshmen are playing well.
Young teams often have to take a couple on the chin before they start to mature so it will be curious to see which team(s) are able to help them with the learning process. As I've said a few times, this could be a very, very good team by the end of the year.
The LVs would be crushed by UConn is they were to meet in the tournament. The Huskies have too much talent, experience, great coaching and are hungry to win after missing out last season. The program appears to be headed in a more positive direction after two tough years. I'm hoping their health holds out and their chemistry stays strong.
It's okay to praise a team and give them the benefit of the doubt but on any given day when the game is a single elimination anything can happen.
I'll continue to believe (even if I am the only one) that if we have to go up against them in a winner takes all match we would win. The pressure wouldn't be on us, the pressure would be all on them.
We have beaten one ranked team and this is already the best team weve had in 10 years?

I'll definitely go out on that limb and say yes, this is the best team we've had in 10 years. Since 2008, we've been through Pat's illness, inexperience, some unmotivated players, parental interference, a deficit of players at certain positions, injuries, some players who were talented but didn't add anything to team play, some more injuries, frequent lack of senior leadership, transfers, a prima donna, and a lack of team chemistry almost the entire time.
Now we're dealing with inexperience and the always present potential for key injuries, but overall this team at present has as much talent and far fewer other problems than at any time in the past 10 years.
Talent + teamwork - drama = a better team.
I think the team has potential but I wouldnt say theyre the best just yet. However, I like your optimism. I thought the 2012 team was the best team weve had in ten years. They probably would have made the Final Four but lost in the Elite 8 to the Griner-led Baylor team, which went on to win the title for an undefeated season. We really battled in that game though. I was proud of our effort.
What does next year have to do with this seasons team?
This will be an interesting test before our Texas test...Troy and ALA St played each other two weeks ago. Troy won, 93-63. Troy had 48 rebounds.
We play Ala then troy before tx...each team will be a step up in competition....Then it's SEC time.
Time to keep the hammer down!
I'm not sure either one of those games before Texas will tell you anything. South Carolina beat Alabama St by like 60. So I would assume the LV will win that one by 40+. Massey has Troy ranked 106 in the nation & losing by 19 to Tennessee.
Then you go on to play a Top 5 team with 10 McDonald's AAs? I am not sure you could get any more different than that. Tennessee is better at home so that could be a factor but I don't really know that you could say what you see in the Alabama St. & Troy games will transfer over to the Texas game. At this point, I would say we don't have enough data vs comparable opponents to make that leap just yet.
The good thing is this really will be Texas' first real test as well. Those watching better prepare their eyes for all those different shades of orange. I expect it to be a good game with some pace.
